HP gains with exhaust and tune?

Hi, I was wondering what kind of power gains to expect from the Accufab exhaust and the flash tune they have listed on their site.
Thanks

Hope Accufab answers this one.
Curious how much hp gain when set up of 91 octaine weak California gas?

According to Accufab from another thread:

"...Independent dyno tests at Westech show a 12 ft/pound improvement in overall torque and an additional 15 HP over the OEM system. On top of that, the new Accufab X-Pipe saves 44# of weight on the extreme rear end (a 1% improvement on front to rear weight bias) and lowers the engine bay temperature by 20-degrees."

No mention is made of gains from a tune in conjunction with the Accufab pipe.

Good question on the SCT re-flashing, I don't have an answer. We never did it as a "stand alone" modification, only in conjunction with the supercharger overdrive unit and throttle body installation in the past. Yesterday, however, we did do a re-flash (and an exhaust installation) on a customer's car but to my knowledge, it was not dyno tested. It was late in the afternoon and the customer needed to go home.

If I'm not mistaken, the customer does tune into this message board from time to time and maybe he can tell us at least, "how it feels".

Accufab,
What mods did you make to the GT that ran a 10.97/133 and did you have before and after dyno numbers on this car?

That GT was the same car that was used in the Motor Trend road test, when it went 10.97. The mods consisted of the Kenne-Bell supercharger overdrive unit, the Accufab throttle body and Inlet Sleeve, a Borla exhast system and some computer modifications. The HP stock before any mods was 531 at the rear tires and 670 with the mods. We have seen stock GT horsepower anywhere from 510 to 531. The 670 HP is a de-tuned number. Our policy when working on customer's GT's is to be conservative, whether it's with blower boost or with fuel-air and timing (computer re-flashing). We assume that the customer will still use regualr pump gasoline at all times. When we ran the drag strip up in Canada that time (10.97) the car had been used on a road racing course all day for a TV show, and so we didn't want to push the envelope. There is no reason, actually, to modify one of these cars past their practicality point. As a street machine, with the A/C running and the CD's craniking out some tunes, and just having some fun, there is no logical reason to try for 20 pounds of boost and a lean mixture, just to scare your friends.

If we wanted to, we could have 900-1000 HP at the rear tires, but what would we do with the damn thing? Of course, now that I think about it, the silver M/T test car (the 10.97 car) is sitting here right now and it has dual turbochargers on it, and we all know how logical THAT is.

thanks!

Our dyno test (at Westech) showed no improvement with the Borla over the OEM set-up. The Accufab X-Pipe picked up between 12-15 HP over the OEM exhaust.

Which Exhaust??????????????

I have the 06 Tungsten GT with the Kinetics exhaust. So we are all on the same page, Kinetics is a professional race shop here in Atlanta. They have a great race set up and fabrication facility (50,000 sq ft.). They campaign several Porsche race cars competing in various levels of racing from the bottom to the top. These are quality people that stand behind their work and are a pleasure to deal with. Based on what I have read about Accufab, Bob Ida and other quality companies, Kinetics would fit right in.

The exhaust system that they built for my car "Looks" similar to many of the others that I have seen out there. I bought the new exhaust for two reasons. First I wanted a better sound and secondly I wanted to reduce the temps in the engine bay.

Well, I certainly have seen a reduction in temps in the engine bay. The car stays cooler longer in traffic and when the temps do creep up, they come down quickly once the car starts moving.

On the better sound requirement: Clearly, the design of an exhaust system is more complicated than I thought it would be. The sound is louder than I would like, but that is just personal preferrence. We are about to put in some baffles to try to tone the sound down. The resonance problem is also an issue. When you reach a certain RPM range, it just reverberates through the whole car.

I will be taking some decibel readings on the current system and also the new system with baffles. If someone wants the numbers I would be happy to share them. If someone has an exhaust system they like, I would loan them my decibel meter so they can do the same test of theirs.

I am hoping that some of the guys that have these various exhaust will be at the rally and we can put these cars side by side and compare them. If someone has a video system that would capture the sounds accurately, they could film this for everyone else that cannot be there. Finally...sound clips!!!

Ok...so who is going to the rally, with their car, that has anything other than standard exhaust? I will post a new thread with this as well.

Now that's a GREAT suggestion. I suggest we use DBK's garage as the sound tunnel with Bony's avatar hitting the pedal.

I confess - it was me!! I spent the day yesterday at Accufab with my GT having their exhaust, re-flash and intake tube insert installed.

First, let me say what a pleasure it was working with the guys at Accufab. John and Fred are real pros and I was very pleased and confident in "letting them work on my GT"!

Bottom line - their exhaust sounds great, but fairly loud under load!! It will probably force me to drive with more of a "feather foot" and maybe be in a higher gear than in the past, but driven with restraint will probably never raise an eyebrow. However - under hard acceleration it will wake the dead! Think a big block Can-Am car under full tilt! Don't you just love it? It now has a sound fitting of the car's looks. On the downside - there is a significant droning at steady cruising between about 1800 and 2300 rpm, - I just pick a gear to keep me out of that range and don't find it a problem-yet.

Also had their re-flash done. Did not have time to do a real dyno run, but my "butt" dyno says there is a significant improvement in mid range torque. The car just seems to have come alive (although the new sound may also play a part in my evaluation).

Accufab has my vote!

Don,.....shhhhh!
You discovered the little blonde slut.
That was my orignal avatar, but DBK said no t/a on his site... so she is waiting for folks to find her. It especially annoys me when folks think that
I only appreciate brunettes, as you have discovered I have a special place in my heart for blondes...
