How Many GTs Left?

My estimate is 2900 in North America.
450-500 totaled
500-600 exported by factory and aftermarket.

I've heard higher numbers on the totaled count,, Closer to 1000 but who knows ??

What difference does it make how many are left? What matters is how much would it cost to replace one.
I makes for good conversation if you attend a lot of car shows. A lot if people still to this day have never seen one and always ask " How many did they make? " or " How many are there? " I like to give them a realistic or my best honest informed answer.. I consider it one of the "Fun Ford Facts "

The big question is, how many people have one and drive it?

I drive mine! 23k miles so far...

I have one and I sometimes drive it.:driving:

Now that's news!

I had a unusually long and stressfull day at the office yesterday so I fired up the gt and took a solo ride for a half hr last night......returned home, tucked the car away and suddenly everything was good with the world!
(I have been using this form of stress relief since I bought my first car at the age of 16 in '73....a '57 chevy, 2dr hrdtp, s/b, 4 sp...I still get the same warm and fuzzy feeling everytime I drive the gt!)

Present and correct.

I've got about 15K on mine. I try to drive the GT about 2,000 miles per year. So far I'm averaging about 1,750. I imagine that will change due to FGT Rallies :-)

Hey Jeff......I think the more correct statement would be sometimes I am not driving it!

The big question is, how many people have one and drive it?
Probably less than those who have one and don't drive it.

Jeff balances out EP

Hmmmm. I wonder. Seems like a lot of people drive their GT's. Or maybe it's just forum people.

For active owners on this forum that is mostly true with the exception of EP. However there are many owners not on this forum and many that brought a FGT mainly to speculate on future prices. Even on this forum there are many owners with 2 or even 5 or more FGTs, that only drive one of them and the others are garage queens.

I would say that, in general, Ford GT owners drive their cars WAY more than typical exotic car owners. How often do you run across a 20,000 mile modern Ferrari on eBay? Not often.

One of the things that stood out to me at the Rally was collecting the starting mileages for everyone during the Road Rally. There were quite a few cars with 15k, 20k, 25k miles. I wouldn't have expected that. Some of these people were not forum regulars. On our Detroit trailer out, two of the 6 cars were people that I know from around town that are not on the forum. One was 18,000 miles, the other was I think 24,0000.

Here in the Mid-West, or Mayberry as I like to refer to it, Within a 100 mile radius there are 12 Ford GT's that I know of.
Two of them are Forum members including myself. The other 10 are not being driven and are not Forum members.

Good to know there's a big stockpile of new parts available from Midnight Auto Supply.

To quote a friend of mine......."not driving it would be like not having sex with your supermodel girlfriend so you can save her for her next boyfriend!"

A better analogy would be "not driving it would be like not having sex with your virgin slave so you can sell her to the next owner at a higher price."

Of course this is illegal but more representative of what some are thinking.
