My estimate is 2900 in North America.
450-500 totaled
500-600 exported by factory and aftermarket.

Gentlemen,

Originally Ford sent 101 GT's to Europe, I think about 40 to Great Britan, and 200 some odd to Canada. Shelby has shipped a ton of GT's out of the U.S. and he's just one dealer. I guesstimate another 350 GT's have left the U.S. during the last 7 years for a total of 700+ exports. Originally a lot of totaled GT's were being put back together but now that parts prices are insane many fixable cars are being parted out. I think 600 totaled cars is a realistic number so 2700 GT's in the U.S. I may be off by 1 or 2. Cheers.

Mine has 6K on it, haven't put more than 300 / year for the last 3-4 years. Most of that 300 was last weekend on the Viper-FGT Condor run with PL150* Jeff and KJRGT. I can get it on the road from the elevated garage, but it takes planning, arranging a car directly opposite my driveway to block parking so I can get it back up the driveway, setting up trailer ramps to keep it from bottoming out. Always amazing to me the extreme workmanship and quality of ride the car possesses. I know I should drive it more often but I plan on keeping it forever, get the rush I need twice a year. Neighbor through the block had two GTs, never drove them and died unexpectantly from a rather rapid aggressive cancer. So who knows what the magic formula is, its whatever you need to appreciate the automobile. Doesn't matter to me what the current price is, I do appreciate the increase in value that has occurred, but mine is not for sale.

Along the lines of what Chip stated, when I first started looking in earnest for a GT (July - August '05) the two locations with the most GT's for sale was Galpin and Hollywood Ford as they were purchasing cars from dealers around the country. Their prices were still deep into the 200's so I was still watching and waiting. When I made offers to both for less than 200K both dealers told me that they were selling every car they could get their hands on to the Orient in general and Japan in particular. My guess is this number, which is always overlooked in these discussions is significant when figuring total cars left.

Yes, China, Russia,Japan, Saudi Arabia...the more the new money billionaires get, the more they want the GT, not just another 458 or McLaren...
