No i ripp the plastic and use. Enjoy it hard and it seems to like it better.

Drove my GT every single weekend in NYC....and if was in open country like Texas, south or West Coast i would do every day..

No excuses necessary for a Hawaiian vacation. As I write this, the skies are blue and temp is about 80 (in fact, I'm out of here). A bit more hospitable than the PNW. Come on down.

Though many have lusted after the DMC-12, it's anemic performance with 130hp did nothing to place it in the supercar genre. The DMC & Pantera, each have productions roughly double that of FGT and neither have its heritage.

'Zactly the point I was trying to make. There is, and likely always will be, a great deal of interest in the FGT. It follows then, that there ought to be a constant high demand for 'em, at least in the foreseeable future, because of it. And that OUGHT to insure prices sure won't be sinking like a rock anytime soon. But, like I said, if they DO - WHO CARES?

(As to the Hawaii thing: 'wife & I ARE thinking about swimming over there in the next year or so "just because". 'Been about 35 years since we were there last!:biggrin Can one even SEE a beach ANYWHERE over there these days w/o looking thru a hotel lobby?:lol)

Aloha, I wouldn't put the Pantera and DMC in the same category as the Delorean sells for less than it did when new while the Pantera sells for 3X to 4X its original MSRP. But forget about that ... over 300 HP in the Pantera vs an anemic 130 for the DMC which was more of a stainless steel clad Corvair than a super car.

You are however correct about the FGT "heritage" that the DeTomaso cars and the coke dealer John Delorean produced DMCs do not possess.

I drive it every chance I get where it will get fully up to temp. But still, mine is the only GT I have ever seen on the road or anywhere else in Chicago. I expect that to change once I hook up with other GT owners in Illinois next summer.

the Mayans said the world will end in 2012. This means we have 4 years of custodianship (thanks ChipBeck) of the GT heritage left. Scenario---there you are out in the yard mowing the grass in 2012 when the civilization ending comet thunders through the sky over the garage where is parked your Ford GT with 2 miles on the odometer and having been admired by by 11 friends and relatives. Go for a drive.
Who knows how long we've got, as individuals, a species, a petrolium based society. Got a friend misering away a lot of money, he don't got no GT. Tell him he die (like we all do) they put him inna ground and cover him up with his money. Go for a drive.
I consider myself fortunate to have the responsibility of looking after one of the most beautiful, powerful, historic creations man has carved from metal. It would be ungenerous not to share that beauty with others. Every time you see that thumbs up, the wave, the chat in the parking lot, you've added a bright spot to someone else's day.

I have noticed on the Ford GT Registry that there are no (or extremely few) serial numbers--assuming the numbers on the right are related to the production numbers--higher than about 2048. What up? Can anyone enlighten us?

only 4000 cars made over 2 years so serial # for each year will only go to the low 2000 mark

However, I can report I DID see a red/white go by the "Wild Fish" restaurant in Scottsdale a couple 'weeks back! So, I know they're out there!
