We then followed Route 66 into Oatman, AZ, where the burros run free. They wanted to check out our GTs. :biggrin (Or maybe they just wanted food...)

There must be something about Route 66 and dollar bills. At the Road Kill Cafe, there were dollars on all of the walls in the bar area, so we wrote "Ford GT Forum 5/12/12" and stapled one to the wall.
But that paled in comparison to the over $100,000 of autographed dollar bills littering every nook and cranny of the Dollar Bill Bar! Even former president Ronald Reagan signed one!!
The Blue Mooses were kind enough to add a Ford GT Forum dollar bill here as well. :thumbsup

Our last stop as a big group was in Laughlin, NV at the Riverside Resort Hotel and Casino.

Before dinner, we spent some time viewing the Classic Car Museum, where there was the motorcycle that made the longest journey around the world and many other cars, including a few Model T Fords, a '57 Belair, Studebakers, Corvettes, and Mustangs.

Our last meal... Following the classic car museum, we had an early dinner in the Prime Rib Room overlooking the Colorado River. This was an amazing place with more food than you could possibly eat for less than $20/pp!! From our table, you could see palm trees dipping their trunks into the river, river taxis lazily making their way to the parking lots on the other side, and jet skiers zipping by, enjoying the splashes of cold water on a 100+ degree day.
After dinner, Rich decided to quiz us on what he wrote in the booklet and the GT. The girls had an easy question unrelated to the GT, and after giving the correct answer, I won a Shelby Cobra 427!!! :banana Okay, it's mini-sized, but it's 1 of 1000 and you cannot beat a Shelby!!! How exciting!
The guys had a MUCH more challenging question!! So much so that even GT gurus like Chip, Blue Moose, and Ralphie couldn't crack it!! I will need help from Rich or one of the other guys in even remembering the question, but basically, most of us know that the steering column comes from the Focus, and many other parts of the Ford GT come from a variety of other Ford vehicles. But the Ford GT uses one part from the Lincoln LX. The boys were given the part and had to guess the vehicle. No one got it... Eventually, John (Blue Moose) won the prize, which was the engraved signatures found in each Ford GT of 2 of the 4 guys who worked on the GT engine.
Most of the guys are still driving back home, but will be adding more pictures and stories from the trip over the next couple of days. A big thank you goes out once again to Rich, for all the work he did in putting together this amazing event (and of course for the prizes at the end)! Thank you also to Chip Beck, for hosting the first leg of the trip at his beautiful home in Scottsdale. :thumbsup

We had such a great weekend getaway. We met at Chip’s then gathered up Barry (down from Flagstaff) and Steve & Elana (down from Ontario). We had an easy drive up to Seligman for lunch at the Road Kill café (all the road kill critters are displayed in the bar – which, of course, pales in comparison to Chip’s menagerie of stuffed/mounted trophies) and it’s where we met up with all the others. The whole weekend was full of amazing vistas and we were honored and surprised to see lots of Arizona’s wildlife (alive and well), such as coyote, antelope, elk, and bighorn sheep (it’s a rare event to spot the sheep), and donkeys; lots of donkeys.
As Piccola and Chip have said, the brochure Rich put together was fantastic – fun, full of history and trivia (which we studied for the pop quiz we knew was coming). Mr. Moose and I have lived in AZ since we were children and we saw sights we’d never seen before. Some of the vistas inspired the scenery in the animated film “Cars”, and Rich was a wealth of information as he is a history buff.
If I had one complaint, it would be that Rich nearly starved us to death – we didn’t get enough to eat.:lol
Thank you for all your efforts, Rich (and Evelyn), and Chip!! We are also looking forward to a gathering next year (the desert is beautiful in the spring, hint, hint).

Thank you Chip and MJ (our official photographer):bow for the kind words. One of my intentions for this trip was to show my GT friends this part of our great state. The only chance I get to see many of them is when I'm down in the Phoenix area, or at a rally. Scotty, Barry, Allen, I wish you guys and your gals could have made the trek (your GT's too). You were missed.
BUT, I think I may have created a monster. As I mentioned before, The only GT up this way is owned by Frank. (the guy who is a little shy of hair in the pics) Although he has owned a GT for 6 years, he avoids computers like the plague. (guess he thinks they will melt his brain. He could be on to something there) Any info he gets is through me. This was his first GT outing, and now I can't get him to shut up about it. He is already coming up with ideas for the next one. His lovely better half, Carla (who is not afraid of computers), is signing him up for the forum. One of his ideas is a big Arizona Bar-B-Que at his place. I LIKE that idea.
We crammed a lot of sights and events into 2 days. I planned things this way, so as to let everyone catch a glimpse of some of whats up here, and entice them to come up again. The Moose's have already talked a little about coming up with their 4 wheeler and doing some off road exploring. (I'll need about 5 minutes to get ready John)
All in All, everything went pretty much to plan. In hindsight, the only change I might have made is the restaurant in Laughlin. As MJ has said, the food was good and plentiful, but the atmosphere was not what I had expected. (when we asked for doggie bags, we were told that being it was a holiday(mothers day?), there were no doggie bags.) Guess I missed something there.:facepalm::bs:ack
Chip has convinced me to do another adventure in the future. Between Evelyn, Carla, Frank and I (and anyone else who wants to help), we will start working on it.
Please enjoy the pictures being posted. They are great. (I should know, I was there)
The cars, the sights, and the food were spectacular, but what really made the weekend special were the friends. To everyone who made it, and everyone who wanted to make it, I thank you.

Well, (and I use the term accurately,not figuratively), the emergency I had that pulled me back from the group in Seligman to Flagstaff was not an exploding pump house at home as my first report indicated. A certified 120 psi pressure transducer line that controlled my well's pressure system blew at the 45 psi I run my place at and it sprayed over a thousand gallons of water out of my storage tank in the pump house. I finally found a replacement line and fittings, and yes, it made a little mess. All is good now. My next GT function WILL BE a success. Great pictures, look like I missed a fine old time.

What a perfect way to spend the weekend. Hats off to Rich for organizing a well thought out event. Sorry I missed the donkeys but I did manage to see a couple Car-B-Ques on the trip back to the Valley.

Regarding the animal photo from a couple pages ago; I am not a Biologist and have been proven wrong many times but I think that is an Elk is it not??

Elk (just like moose and white-tails) are a type of deer. The moose is the largest, and then the elk, topping out about 400 lbs larger than white-tails. We usually refer to white-tails as "deer" and elk and moose as "elk" and "moose", but they are part of that same family.

I had a picture taken of me and my GT on this trip, unfortunately by a roadside photo speed enforcement camera just when I lost the group in front of me and had to mildly accelerate through an intersection to get them in my line of sight, since I had no idea where I was going. However, waiting to be legally served, which didn't happen, this is the end result of the Prescott Valley Traffic enforcement "DISMISS PR NO ACTION 120 DAYS".
