front grille bug screen

Cobraguy

GT Owner
As bug season will soon be upon us in the Great White North:ack, I am wondering if anyone in the forum community has come upon a supplier for a front grille bug screen (easily removable) that is worth having. If not, it will not be a complicated task to fab one up myself but I'd rather not reinvent the wheel if I don't have to! Any info would be much appreciated! Also, are any of the fellow Albertans out there that are heading to Rally Vl going to be trailoring their fgt's or am I the only cautious one:slap

GT Guys or make one out of gutter guard. I did, didn't like it, went without it.

Mr Gibson is right. GTGuys make a trick screen. Please do a search or call them as they are a vendor here.

I fab my own out of mesh material. It is basically invisible and works very well. I spend about $6.00 total, plus $1.00 for a hole plug grommet for the tow hook. It is really simple to make your own.

I have the GTGuy's screen and it's a blessing. Three screws and it's on or off, and keeps the AC condenser free of bugs, allowing undisturbed air flow through the radiators. At tracks, it's easily removed to maximize air flow and cooling. Cleaning the bugs off is simple and much better than disturbing the front of the condenser. And, it looks just like the OEM screens on the early 2005's.

Thanks for the imput guys......looks like I'll fab something up as it appears to be one of the simplest fab jobs I've been involved in .

There is a company out of California that makes custom bra's for the GT. I have one that was done in Tungstun with silver stripes and it matches my paint perfectly and fits very well. I use it for road trips only, it eliminates road rash and bug jerky.

We,ve been considering getting one for our Tungsten car.
Would it be possible to have you post a pic or e-mail me one?
I've seen them in person on other cars in other colors, but curious how it would look on our color.

Thanks, Jeff

Are you referring to Speed Lingerie bra's???

Sure, but it will take a couple weeks as the GT is at our summer home and we don't move up there until Memorial Day. All pictures I have down here are ones that don't show the car with the bra on.

I can tell you that from 25-30 feet away most people don't even notice it. Not until you walk up to it do people notice. The colors are spot on and it fits like a glove with no flapping even at speeds of 145+. I also have the covers for the mirrors which I leave on all the time. PM me your e-mail and I can send you a picture with the mirror covers on. You will see the color is an exact match. I can't get a photo to attach to this reply.

Jeff

Yes, that's the one.

Please don't go to any extra trouble.
With the mirrors on would be good enough.
PM on the way with e-mail.

Thanks for the info, Jeff

Here's a picture of the Rich's screen - matches the car perfectly....

Did you have to spend much time adjusting that to fit the car the first time? Do you have a picture of it on the car?

Thank you for posting that picture.

Thank you for posting that picture.

It took no adjustment - slips right in, but without any slop, and just install the three upper screws. I didn't have any pictures of it on the car, so I just went out and took a couple. Hope you can see the screen as there is a lot of contrast, even with a flash....

PS - it's a great stone guard for the condenser and radiators, too.

It looks totally stock.

I am struggling with it causing restrictive air flow to the point of being a problem on the track. It looks like it would flow like a champ!

Thanks for going out and laying on the floor to take those pictures, much appreciated! :thumbsup
