It looks totally stock.

I am struggling with it causing restrictive air flow to the point of being a problem on the track. It looks like it would flow like a champ!

Thanks for going out and laying on the floor to take those pictures, much appreciated! :thumbsup

It is meant to look "totally stock." I have a late 2005 (Sept 23), and they had already designed the original out of the car, so mine didn't get one. And, at the track, I was happy not to have it in place, for the increased air flow (it was 109° at Miller Motorsports Park in July, 2007). However, when Rich came out with the externally removable grill (which looks just like the original stock grill), I opted to get it for travel, to keep the bugs and stones out of the condenser and radiators. At the track it will take less than 5 minutes to remove and/or install.

Does it rest against the support bars, and if so, any rubbing?

No - no rubbing on the support bars that I can see....I think the lower clips keep it away from the bars.

I have an '05 with stock screen and the SpeedLingerie bra with bug screen. Never overheats despite what other owners say. I think the key is more eliminating bubbles in the cooling system.

I have an 06 with the SpeedLingerie bra and bug screen and have never had a problem with over heating.

bug screen

Here in Alberta, we have LOTS of small insects that can get through the grille to plug up the rad.:ack As a result, I've come up with a screen that solves the problem. It's made out of commercial window screen material bordered with soft car-bra fabric. It attaches to the grille via 1/2" diameter flat super strong magnets (purchased at a local hobby store for 6 bucks) sewn into the border..6 in total along the perimeter. The magnets are encased in the fabric so they can't scratch and are plenty strong enough to stick the screen to the grille (very surprising to discover the grille is made of steel and not aluminum!) and obviously the fans pulling air through combined with the air flow resulting from driving guarantee that it will never come off. It may be a little air-flow restrictive to use on the track but I haven't experienced any issues with it in normal driving in 90 degree weather.
The best part is .... you can take it off, roll it up, put it in a sandwich baggy and through it under the seat till you need it next. Installation time..5 seconds, removal time 4 seconds :thumbsup

It seems all these devices mentioned in this thread needless kill bugs. Here in California we are trying to find ways that cars will not kill bugs as every creature has a right to live no matter how big or small.

CobraGuy, that is truly genius. Would you please post components and measurements and we'll have this made into a sticky so others could reproduce it? Do you sew, or did your main squeeze do it for you?

Why not a group buy?

Thanks.....it's really quite simple. Anyone with a decent sewing machine could handle it. I had a local auto upholstery shop make it. I supplied him with a construction paper template with all of the border, screen and magnet areas marked on it . Sadly, I tossed it out a week or so ago. Material list is a bit of black plastc window screen, some car-bra trim, and 6 hobby magnets. The trick is to make the border as thin (3/16") as possible will making an allowance in width for the magnets which are sewn into the border. I used circular magnets but there may be narrow rectangular available that might work better. Total construction time with a coffee break would not exceed an hr. Making several dozen would cut that time down drastically.
