albolfaz - looks like you can get a free tire nitro fill while your car is at Marone from Brad. Maybe he can fix your shocks also.

Just picked up the car today, most issues fixed the rest are still waiting on parts. I drive up to the car which is sitting in the service drive nice and clean, I walk up and notice a HUGE scratch on the clamshell right behind the left rear wheel. Brian (my service adviser) looks over my car when I drop it off and knew that the car didn't come in with the scratch (just like when they scratched my drivers door), acknowledges that they must have done it. I ask for the manager who comes over and utters my quote of the day (knowing how mad I am about the car):

"Thats what happens when these cars are here this long..." (12/29/06 Mike Jordan, service manager Maroone Ford).

For once in my life I was speechless.

You are the most patient calm person I have ever read about. I would have lost it months ago. Please send the car to Saleen, have them return it to factory fresh... :wink

I hope the dealer is going to get the paint repaired in another shop, because if it is done there, it may be fine and then get scratched again from stay there too long.

Don't feel to bad, I keyed my own GT when I walked by with a sprinkler remote in my pocket! Ouch!

I am afraid your experiences at Maroone will make me search elsewhere for service in SFL if/when I need dealer assistance. Irrespective of the competency of the service techs, I just can not live with that kind of attitude.

Anyone with other experience in S FL?

There are 2 Maroone Fords, one in Delray another in Miami. For the benefit of all GT owners which one scratched your car?

I don't know if posting all the issues on my car in one thread is a good idea or not anymore, I've been doing so to chronicle the struggle I have had with both Ford and Maroone over the last year of ownership. At this point I have pretty much given up on trying to rectify all the noises the car has, every time I go in to fix one noise, two or three others pop up and as I've mentioned before the dealer seems to make the car worse every time it goes back in.

I decided to drive the car today (I haven't done so since I got it from the dealership) and couldn't ignore all the scratches and ill fitting interior parts (courtesy of Maroone). I have a recurring problem with the lower half of the dash on the passenger side actually falling down (it has its own set of buzzing noises as well), I have told the dealer several times about this and they keep telling me either its fixed or that they're waiting on parts. Last time it fell down again, I pulled over and slapped it back up and then noticed that the center console didn't fit correctly, the module that contains the start button looks like its a 1/4" too far to the right. My dealer says thats the way its supposed to be. If thats the way its supposed to be from the factory then its just another indication that the QC guys at the factory must have been asleep when my car was built. Although my dash has been apart several times I don't know if the dealer ever got to this part of the dash.

I've tried to take a few photos to illustrate the problem, anybody else have this on their car?

'Just checked mine. 'Unit is centered.

With all the pblms you've had to deal with on this car, I gotta ask ya - did you buy this car USED by any chance????
If so, did you do a "VIN" check 2C if it had ever said "hello" to to a guard rail or something in a past life?

I only know "personally" (in a manner of speeking) a couple of people besides myself who have GT's, and none of us (SHOOT! Nobody on the Forum either, come to think of it) has had anywhere NEAR the grief you've had.

It would SEEM there could be only two reasons for that: (1)the car, unfortunately, is one of those "lemons" we hear about that "happen" with any manufacturer, or (2) it's had an "ouchy" somewhere in it's past.

If the car was bought NEW, I would think you ought to have a "slam dunk case" for a Lemon Law claim. (Otherwise, you're ... uh ... you know...)

'Just my $.02 .

Sorry, to hear about all of your problems. It all started with the halfshaft bolts. Mine were going to fail sometime too and still may. I got the part replaced by the GT Guys, but that may not be good enough. The bolts were still tight, but the washers were severely bent!

I think the main problem is that good workmanship at the service dept. are non-existent. A minor problem just keeps growing as you bring the car back to the dealer. Many cars are not repairable by the average tech in the service dept. They are built in a certain order on an assembly line by people doing the same thing everyday. The tech rarely sees a GT so everything is a learning experience for them. Do you want someone to get an education using your car?

I would either send the car to Saleen, have the GT Guys fix it, or lemon the car.

Again, I have to concur... this is painful to watch and read about.

Abo, you are right, it is shifted too much to the right, OR, the left side is not tucked in behind the leather of the dash panel. I don't have my Service manual with me, but there are 4 screws at the bottom on both sides I think you might use for adjustment. If someone could post these that has the manual handy, it might save you a lot of problems. Don't you have some service guys there at your dock or warehouse that can do trim fitment?

I do, but their job is to build YACHTS! I realize now that this is why the passenger side lower dash keeps falling down, it can never be seated in the right position with the center console misaligned!

BTW I purchased the car NEW! :eek

I've gone as far as retaining a lawyer for lemon lawing the car, but haven't provided the paperwork (even though its all together in an envelope stamped and ready to go). I love the car too much to flush it down the toilet like that, I get mad at it, put it away for a month or so, drive it and then fall in love all over again. At this point though its looking like it is one of those "rare" lemons that somehow rolled out of the factory and you guys are right, the dealers aren't prepared to do the work on these cars (at least the one that I've dealt with). What really worries me though is owning this car out of warranty, as far as I can see the car is not aging well (regarding the warranty issues).

For those of you who went to the rally, did anyone meet any QC people? :thumbsdow

I had to lemon law a motoecycle a year back (Big Dog). Like you car the product was great from the factory but hammered by the dealer.
Once I got past the dealer, he was talking out of both sides of his mouth to me and BD, legal at BD more than wanted to give me a new bike of my choice than give me my money back. Here in Ca. it is there choice. I guess my point is LL the thing, Ford will probably want to give you a new GT than the money. Either way problem solved.

We talked to many people at the rally about QC. Don't forget, we were there at the end of the run and all the bugs were worked out. That radio comes as a unit already mounted in the silver, metal frame. Make the wire connections and add the screws and you're ready to go. It wasn't rocket science. I believe most of your problems are dealer inflicted. I do have a very small buzz in my dash, but isolated it to the top of the inside dash cover right over the tach. If I put my thumb on the underside of the top and squeeze up, the buzz disappears. Waiting for warmer weather to put some black cloth into that area. When we were in Dearborn, the GT engineers took my car for a ride especially to reproduce the dash buzz and couldn't. Know how they fix rattles and buzzes? Beat it straight on with a fist. Hard to believe, but these cars are built extremely well. There's no cheap cardboard in that dash, so a smash with your fist here or there may get you some silence.

It is going to be tough for Ford to give a replacement at this point, that will not happen. The "lemon law" in Michigan would not pertain to a mis-alligned switch, that is from the mechanics lack of abillity. Squeeks and rattles are most likely from improper or repeated removing and reinstalling.

If the there were multiple half shaft failures or the car was in opperable for more than a certain number of days, then the "lemon law" may apply.

I hope you get things cleared up!

I have that covered! I'm not complaining about a misaligned switch, but a console thats out of whack that causes the rest of the dash not to fit correctly.

I am sorry to post my comment not having read all 32 pages of this thread, but was the dash out of whack from the beginning? I would think at this point if that is the problem then maybee a call to Saleen as has been sugessted may be the best solution.

I am sure there is a simple solution that only one of their experts can figure out. I refered "Cobrar" to someone there because my Dealerships experts could not solve, remember we are in Dearborn, and Saleen fixed it.

I hope that works for you.
