I'm just confused!!

I have a problem with this thread. But, I am sorry for your problems.

albofaz has stated in prior threads the service he recieved was better than the Lambo store and F'car place ever gave him!!

albofaz said Autonation or Maroone (not sure what they call it) was an excellent service place. And the people there were very helpful.

albofaz said the Roadside assitance was fast and well prepared to handle his car's tow in.

albofaz continues to say he hates Ford through every post. This is one comment that has been steady through out this whole roller coaster of customer expectations. And his mechanical breakdowns.

albofaz sounds very passionate towards his GT, but I remind everyone it says Ford on it and that seems to be a major issue.

If this forum were a newspaper, I would say his stories sell alot of papers. And yes I just read this whole thread again and it was to intense to capture all his quote's through this whole thread.

"Sorry to feed the wolves":bored

Oh yes, my car has 1800 miles and 40+ "rocket like launches" and has needed nothing except sticky tape.

I am very sorry for any car guys troubles; as it translates into blood boiling moments.

With that waiver, save yourself the heartache. Saleen is your only option.

I am not sure if Albo is "by default" conducting an experiment/evaluation of Ford product/dealer performance/satisfaction index at the super car level. While this may be enlightening; and fascinating to only a car guy.

Otherwise, I know every guy here would be happy to chip in $25 (no offense Albo, as i know you have plenty) to pay for a round-trip to Saleen, to see this thread conclude happily (reading it is excrutiating). This still baffles me, as many have offered top notch SVT trained dealer recommendations in his area or Saleen. But, owners call.

However, some guys cant stand to send a car out of their local reach. Neverthless, I would never drop off my Rolex at the mall battery stand/or shoe repair store; as some Ford dealers are clearly stretched on this product.

Again, every nick, chip, defect, misalignment, gremlin is a low-buck off-the shelf fix for Saleen and a mystery for most dealers.
Saleen has a product support relationship with Ford. So, in my mind Ford has taken the extra step to have a "specialist" available to all of us.

At the end of the day this is not a Ford -- its a custom race-car composed of a Mayflower chassis, Ricardo transaxle, and motorsports sub-systems components (brakes, supercharger, super-tuned engine, etc.) assembled by a builder. If you are evaluating the FORD GT, its akin to holding the Best Buy rep or store manager responsible for a $9000 Plasma TV. His commitment ends at the sale and maybe the 50% commission for the warranty. After that its the factory, which in this case is Saleen.

Yes the service was good, but not quick (I’m told this is because of Ford). The dealer did everything they could to get the car in and out as fast as they could.

albofaz said Autonation or Maroone (not sure what they call it) was an excellent service place. And the people there were very helpful.

The service was good, but as you continue to read the thread notice how the dealer made the car worse and worse everytime it went in, from damaged interior parts all the way up to screwing up the paint on the car. At first everything was good, but notice how they’ve gotten worse? I was told this happened because the “trained” GT tech was no longer working on my car (because of vacation, sick days etc when my car was in) and that most of the interior damage was done by a tech that doesn’t work on GT’s. Most people here wouldn’t even take the car back after the dealer got through with it the way they did!

albofaz said the Roadside assitance was fast and well prepared to handle his car's tow in.

Yes, whats the problem with that? I requested for the car to be towed and after fighting with Ford to have the car towed to Maroone 40 miles away from my home rather than a few miles to the closest dealer they did as I asked.

albofaz continues to say he hates Ford through every post. This is one comment that has been steady through out this whole roller coaster of customer expectations. And his mechanical breakdowns.

Where did I say I HATE FORD? On the contrary, look through the thread and note how many times I’ve told people to go ahead and buy a GT despite my experience. I still RAVE about the car.

albofaz sounds very passionate towards his GT, but I remind everyone it says Ford on it and that seems to be a major issue
.

Yes I think the fact that it’s a FORD is a major issue, both good and bad. I purchased the car because it’s a FORD, hoping that any FORD dealer could work on it, but the more involved I get the more I realize that these cars should be repaired by SALEEN techs only and not regular mechanics that work on normal FORD products.

If this forum were a newspaper, I would say his stories sell alot of papers. And yes I just read this whole thread again and it was to intense to capture all his quote's through this whole thread.

HUH?

Good for you, I would love to see the way you would have handled my car, especially after having the bolts break a second time only two days after getting the car back? You’ve read the thread, all the dates are there, you figure out how long I’ve had the car in my possession in the year that I’ve owned it and how long the dealers had it.

Does anybody see anything in this thread where I say ALL GT’s are SHIT or just my car!? How many times can you stand hearing the dealer say “we’ve never seen anything like this before?”

As far as the car being a FORD, at the end of the day I think this sums it up best:

At the end of the day this is not a Ford -- its a custom race-car composed of a Mayflower chassis, Ricardo transaxle, and motorsports sub-systems components (brakes, supercharger, super-tuned engine, etc.) assembled by a builder.

Nothing wrong with owning a FORD, but Kayvan summed it up best.

And PILOTJPW1, as far as you not liking my cars story what can I tell you, I've only posted here for the benefit of the other owners. If its not to your liking or anybody elses I'm sure the mods would delete it, but after my rants on this thread good or bad the mods have decided to leave the thread up for a reason.

BTW was this thread the first time you guys learned of the breaking bolt problem?

I quess I'm lucky to have a great service department/ tech for mine. When I had the oil pump noise they call Ford, got approval and when the part came in replaced it in 2 day with the bolt replacements. Thus only two days in the Kia Rio. Abo - at least you got a Hyundai this time.

I don't know why it takes weeks...... that's not right. All the parts I order typically come in within two days. Tue I ordered a gasket for the Throttle Body and a spare shift boot. Both cam in today! Fla should be no more than trhee days MAX. Even when I order from 92NSX - it was within three days on my door!

My dealer tells me yesterday that the "klunking" noise comming from my front suspension is due to a bushing that has either disappeared or was left out during assembly...

Dude, is this still at Maroone?

No offense to anyone that's made such claims, but 99% of the time when a dealer says something was left out at assembly, they are full of shit.

Do me a favor and PM me an executive summary of the history of the car and how long Maroone/whoever has had it. I'm preparing my post-new year warpath...

What is the EXACT part they are waiting on?

There were a lot of weird noises coming from the front suspension, they hooked up some kind of listening devices all over the front of the car and drove it looking for the clunking noise that I complained about. Anybody else here have shock failures?

Shock Failure

Abolfaz - I had a simular problem. Lot's of clunking noises. Orginally sounded like it was coming from engine bulkhead. A number of the frame bolts needed to be tighten up. Noise went away. For a while. Came back on a poorly paved city street.

Ended up that the right front shock was not good. Must have been that way for a while as the bushings on the swaybar were shot too. And one of the rod end bearings. All replaced. Noise went bye bye.

All the noise transmits through the frame and resonates right behind your head. Sounds like the same use of the remote listening device details they used on my car.

That was months ago.

A couple of weeks ago I heard beginings of The Noise again. This time the left front shock was replaced. No sway bar damages found.

Hope this helps.

Hello Jeff,
How many miles did you have on the GT when the noise started?
Cheers,

The car didn't ride any different, how did the shock go bad?

Bony - I first noticed it early on - maybe at 2,500 miles. That's when they tightened the frame bolts at the bulkhead. Then the noises "re-appeared".

Got the NVR folks involved. Used the remote listening probes etc. Brian, GT Tech, noticed oil on the outside of the shock barrel. Further looking found the sway bar bushings had been squeezed out and one of the rod end bearings was defective. (inner race carrier).

From what I remember this was the first shock to be replaced under warrantee. Usually they are replaced in pairs but Ford chose to only replace the one due to low miles on the car. Around 3,500 then.

At first we thought it was just road noise via the stiff tires on a bad piece of road. Started off irregulary then became more prevelent and consistant. It became very noticable on jounce rather than rebound. ie down stroke rather than compression stroke of the shock.

Hope this helps.
