My partner said the the GT is nice but it is outhandled by the F430.

I couldn't respond since I don't know if its factual but told him I thought that was :bs.

How does the GT stand up to the others? Where can I cite him to for back up reference?

Dig it!

"It wasn't even a contest. The Ford GT so completely dusted off its two highly recognized competitors that if we had wanted to make this a real challenge, we would have had to go way up the "supercar" price ladder. The $401,000 Saleen S7 is about as quick as the Ford GT, and we know of only one car that would surely outrun the Ford—the $659,000 Ferrari Enzo."

I did read somewhere that the 430 tested slightly better in on a skid-pad and breaking, but the difference was very slight. The GT always made it back in the acceleration.

Just see if he wants to race.... put up or shut up. :thumbsup

Me V a 430

I braked slowly and just pottered about the top bend as it was my first run. That said, on a tight track I think the 430 would be the better car. The GT is too soft and rolls too much for a track car.

As others have said though, get to a long straight and the GT just disappears...

Guys: Thanks for the response!:thumbsup

Ferraris just don't do anything form me. The GT is head and shoulders above.

In fact the guy who delivered my GT said that the GT got more looks and attention then any Ferrari or Lambo he's ever delievered.

FuBar: Just a little warning. Keep that little guy in your Avatar away from GTNJ! He's out for blood!:lol

I have said that the Achilles heel on the GT is the wheel/tire combo. I think the purpose of the OEM wheels are to stay true to the 1966 look. It also gives the GT and insanely smooth ride for a super car.

If they had used bigger wheels and lower profile tires it would have greatly improved the skid-pad results. It would have also allowed for bigger brakes to be crammed in there. ie: better braking.

just my 2 cents.

Put Penske's shocks, Pilots S2's and eat 430's for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Why all of this childish talk on which car is faster? Make the mods Bony recommends and add a Whipple and with equal drivers the GT will be faster on almost any course. A good professional driving a stock F430 against the same modded GT driven thier owners and less than 1% of the owners will be faster around the track!

At this level of performance, the skill and ball's of the driver make more of a difference! Buy the car you like and drive it, I did!

BlackIce: Your right. You need to compare apples to apples. Stock to stock. Driver level to driver level.

I was just asking for a comparison of the cars stock just for informational purposes....ok, I'll admit,...for bragging rights too. :cheers

I don't know if you want to factor this in or not but the so-called sticky tires the F430 seems to come with from factory might be making a big difference also. Unless I'm talking out of my ass here :).

The Car & Driver article that listed the F430 against the GT did note that the tires were significantly different. The author wrote that if the GT had had similar tires the outcome may have been quite different.

I wouldn't care if the 430 was faster, in my opinion it lacks the visual appeal of the Ford and for that matter, isn't a particularly attractive car.

Car and Driver rated the 430 above the GT on their TV show. It was their common cop out - ergonomics, fit and finish, and comfort.

When you buy a car in this league performance should be 99% of what makes up the score.:thumbsdow

I don't know what Car & Driver is talking about.:bs

First: fit and finish on the GT is great with retro looks and interior.

Second: fit and finish on the F430 is about the same. I compared both side by side at the same time before I bought the GT. F430 just another slick Italian car.

Third: The GT blows the F430 away in looks (subjective) and mirrors legendary looks of its father/ancestor the great GT40. Point in fact, the car carrier who delievered my GT's delivers all the Ferraris and Lambos for the Lambo/Bently dealer where I bought my GT. He said, "unsolicited", the GT got more attention on his truck then any Lambo or Ferrari he has ever delivered.

Fourth: The GT will eat the F430's lunch in performance.

Fifth: Limited production and exclusivity. Less then 4000 GTs left in the world. The remaining GTs surviving are the last of the Mohicans. Ferrari makes over 5000 F430s a year!

Sixth: The GT is all American and storied as a Ferrari slayer bringing the bacon home to the U.S. at LeMans against the Ferrari juggernaut three consecutive times.

I don't care what Car & Driver says. I'd take a GT hands down any day of the week.

gt vs 430

The article in sept. automobile says it all. I owned a GT last year after having a 430 previously. The GT was a great car.It did all things a car is supposed to do very well, but it did not move me the way the 430 did.I traded the GT for a new 430 and for me there is no better car on the planet.I know a lot of you think that a GT could blow the doors off a 430 and to that I say READ THE ARTICLE.

Rick430: I read the Car & Driver article for 2005. They didn't mince words. They openned with noting it wasn't even close. The GT "dusted" the 430. What else did you want us to read????:confused

5000 F430s produced a year. Nearly 2x the price of admission of a GT. Bound to depreciate as the "new and improved" F460s come on line.

4000 GTs produced. Period. Likely to hold their initial entry value and possible increase in value as years pass as a collectible. This will be aided by the fact that odds are as years pass their will be fewer and fewer survivors as the always reliable few schmucks telephone pole test their GTs, normal accidents etc..take their toll on the GT population.

I like the F430. Nice car.

I love the GT. Awesome car and a modernized auotmotive icon and legend. The F430 can't say that.
