parking at the Fairmont

Dave,

Is there any more info on the parking situation at the hotel?

Hotel services at the Fairmont provided this information:

All parking at the hotel is valet.

Guests: $22 overnight fee per vehicle, billed directly to the room; no limit to in & out priveleges throughout the day. No limit to the number of vehicles per guest (rental car, plus GT, etc.).

Visitors: $5 per hour with a $15 maximum daily charge (overnight $22); no in & out priveleges (pay each time vehicle is taken off-site).

Parking is covered with 24 hour security, employee access only.

The spots in front of the hotel that are not covered are few in number.

I was told that off-site parking is very limited.

Thanks,
Trisch

I am considering your advice to shoot down the 99 to 5 and get there early. I don't want to get caught up in a traffic jam. Maybe another Fresno GT or 2 will do the same?

It looks like you are hooked up with Larry ans Richard for the trip down. My GT along with one other will be trucked down. We will not be driving this trip. I think there is at least one other that may be trucked down also. If I hear of any others driving down through Fresno, I will let you know.

Here is what I heard from DBK...

Here is what I just found out…..

Here's the parking situation. Unfortunately this hotel seems to be just as inconsistent in the communication department when it comes to parking as the Ritz was. I spoke face to face with the group sales manager, her assistant and the valet captain. They said they were fine with everyone parking the cars themselves, and the head valet indicated he was glad they wanted to out of skepticism in letting his crew take hold of $16 million worth of cars. I told them some people had asked the hotel and received inconsistent answers. They were adamant it was just because the head valet hadn't disseminated the information between all the valets that run the various shifts. This was 2 weeks ago. The 5 nights I stayed there, they let me park the Lamborghini myself, keep the keys, and come and go as I please. Beyond the dozen or so cars they can fit up front, they have a multi-level parking structure and said if we wanted, we could have the lower floor blocked off. I think that it might be nice to take the top floor though, because even though it's not covered, you can see it from much of the hotel, and can see it from the rooftop pool/bar, etc. Steve Ard has a local friend who is a helicopter pilot and I thought that might make a neat shot if we could get someone up there.

Anyways, it will be fine, valets just tend to be the most panicked of all people!

If you Google map 4500 MacArthur Blvd, Newport Beach, CA 92660, the hotel is directly to the right of the marker where the road forks. You can see the pool and hot tub, the structure attached to the side is the parking structure.

When are you on the road to the rally?

Well... we are all counting down days to when we all converge on socal. It seems that quite a few are headed to Scottsdale and others are heading on their own route. With that being said and looking for things to look for on the drive. When are you leaving and what route are you traveling?

Hope to see you on the road....

Steve

Bony, please stop it. I can't stop laughing. I think he should watch for little toilets for a little Piccola.

I am not bringing my GT, but I've got an HD camcorder and can volunteer for a helicopter ride to get some great video of the GT convoy on a highway run or something. I think something like that would be awesome. Can we find a big parking lot somewhere and spell out Ford GT Forum, or just Ford GT WITH Ford GT's? Heck, we could even make a giant #5 :thumbsup

Do we have an approx time line agenda for the events yet?

My wife keeps buggin' me "What time does that start, what time does it end, if we are at Petersen late do we have to be at the PAG headquarters at 6am" . Think we can get a rough outline before check in?
