Not sure what the plan is for playing with the GT's at El Toro. But I can say that there is a LOT of loose gravel on the runways and taxiways there. Watch out for rock chips!

The good doctor is neither driving nor trailering, but flying out at someone else's expense. No GT with me (yes, I know the references to female anatomy). I get there Monday and have business dealings all day Tuesday and Tuesday evening. Will rent a car out there, probably a new Edge as a sag wagon for the trip. Just no other way to do it this time. New guy starting mid-July and don't trust leaving him alone for long. Frank
Hey, all of us with sticky Hoosiers can drive around El Toro to clean the track surface!
As far as guarding the parked GTs at the hotel I'm not planning on sleeping at night so I can stand guard. Actually, I might not be able to stand so I'll probably need to lean up against something.

I know this sounds off the wall, but what if.....?, maybe....?, some how.......? there was the idea of a GT Caravan to Las Vegas on the Sunday, last day of the GT Rally??? Perhaps a venue like the Venetian would be an excellent place to bring the GTs to Vegas? Just a thought.........? Everyone picks up their own tab. Would be interesting to take the I-15 up the Cajon Pass to the high desert and open roads into Vegas?
Nah, no one would be interested, I am sure ....... arty
DBK...
Now that we are getting to the short strokes of the California event, a couple last minute questions-
1) There have been several posts of us tracking our cars at El Toro raceway (airport?) and also some portion maybe of this facility which is owned/maintained (?) by Saleen. If we do track our cars, a) is there any fee for doing so? b) are helmets required and if so what helmet certification standard is minimum required? c) I would guess standard OEM seat belt is acceptable for track use? d) Is there any prior tech inspection necessary? My previous tracking experience required a qualified mechanic to "certify" he had looked at the tires, brakes, seat belts, battery hold down etc, etc to insure trackability PRIOR to even getting to the track tech inspection. I realize FGT's are new and will not have any problem in this category, just checking as to any policy/procedure the tracking participation owners need to be aware of before showing up.
2) Many of us are obviously interested in the transaxle half shaft bolt issue. It was posted Ford will conduct a technical session for the rally attendees on this topic to bring us all up to date as to what the proposed fix will be. Do you know who will present (possibly Fred himself?), when and where you have scheduled this discussion to take place? It might be helpful to schedule a time slot with enough time for the owners to have a Q&A session with these technical guys on any other topics which owners may have about care, maintenance, performance, temperatures, modifications, etc.
Thanks again for your effort in coordinating!
I'd be in for this.
