I agree with your sentiments whole heartily. I would probably have bought my GT if it was worth nothing the minute I unloaded it. That said, those feelings are completely emotional in their basis. Removing the emotional aspect, will day the day come that you can buy a GT for $55k? $35k? How about the ZR1. Will the day come you can buy that car for $20k? I think yes. Not so sure about the GT. We all love our cars. Put that aside for a moment and tell me what you think happens to the GT market over the next 20 years.

I personally don't see the Ford GT ever heading to a number that low, if so I think the economy would be the key factor. We have a ZR1 as well and the car is absolutely stellar in so many ways, however the GT has an incredible charm about it - plus it was only built for 2 years (and of course the history of the GT40's doesn't hurt either). Only time will tell... I'm sure there's a bundle of opinions out there - it would be interesting hearing what everyone has to say regarding your question above.

Life is good,

First, I’d like to thank all of you for your posts. I’ve learned a lot about my car. Yesterday, I saw a white FGT with black stripes stopped at the intersection of Sunset and 107th Ave. Although I have my tungsten FGT in the garage I couldn’t take my eyes off her.
Would I ever sell my FGT? Not unless I needed money for food. I too saw the GT40 race when I was twelve and fell in love with it. When I had an opportunity to buy one I didn’t hesitate.
Yesterday, I saw the Mecum auction. There were cars from the 70’s much less rare than the FGT selling for ten times their original sticker. I think our investments are safe.

Welcome.

First, I’d like to thank all of you for your posts.

zgt,

I see this is your first post, welcome to the Ford GT Forum. Send me a PM with the serial number and year of your GT and I'll change your status to owner. The more involved you are with this owner group, the more you will enjoy your Ford GT. I look forward to meeting you. All the best.

I think I still have the magazine where I first saw the Ford GTs from the 60s.Think I was around twelve years old.Its the only car that's really ever meant anything to me since. When I saw that Ford was going to remake it life had come full circle.

CJ428 great post and I too can identify with exactly the same path!

Racelance, glad to see you have been swept over to the FGT owner's family with such passion. Your words do our ownership experience justice. Thanks for your keystrokes!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I completed the GT Registry with serial number. Is that sufficient?
