Total Cost: $1054.
Call me presumptuous (since I've never owned one), but I'm betting you'd be hard pressed to find a 16-month-old, 7,200-mile Ferrari with just over $1,000 in operating costs. :banana
If you want to add fuel, I'm getting 16 mpg on average, which adds up to 450 gallons. Times $2.50 a gallon, that's $1,125 in fuel. Let's add in insurance too. That's $750 for every six months. I've paid for three blocks of six months so far, that there's another $2,250.
So Total Operating Costs (maintenance, fuel, insurance) at 7,200 miles and 16 months is $4,429.
Oh, and my windshield just got "starred" by a random rock. This morning a mobile glass repair guy charged me $75 to make it look like a slightly large windshield pit that most will never notice, but technically that's not really "fixed." Estimates on windshield replacements are running around $2,200 ($700 for the glass, $1,500 for labor because they have to pull the entire front clip). So let's add $2,200 to the bill for arguments sake, even though I haven't spent it. Now we're at $6,629 total operating costs.
And, I've got the axle bolts on order even though my car is running fine. Those are supposed to cost around $300 to replace (parts and labor included). Add that and you're at $6,929.
So let's call it $7,000. Still less than $1 a mile. Assume most people won't have to replace a windshield and you're at well under $1 a mile for operating costs.
Seems like a pretty good deal to me. :cheers
