Keep 'em Roll'in

In Texas driving. Just got off at "inspection station"? Got waved through. Internet connection, like car, somewhat unreliable. :lol Will report later. Arizona was awesome. Friends, track, hurl-inducing plane ride. You haven't had enough fun unless you're causing involuntary bodily reactions.

We'll probably be back in two weeks...If we make it to Detroit by then...

p.s, AZGT = Larry the Cable Guy :wink

KEEP EM ROLLl'IN.

Let me know if you guys, or the "Turtle" need a pit stop.

Travel Safe.

DBK, what's your route going through Texas? With the weather like it is in the midwest, you might want to visit us boys down here for a while. If you're going through my neck of the woods, I'd love to tag along in the GT for a ways.

It's sunny and 50 degrees here today. Hope your heater is working!

Camilo & DBK....Top Guns!!

During Saturday nights dinner at Riata Pass the discussion touched on how fast, and where. Fast is relative. Larry had set up a track sesson in the morning where we can go 130 MPH. How about 400 MPH upside down 30 feet from the ground? Camilo says YEAH!!! DBK says IM IN!! So we start Sunday at the track where I ride with Dave while he humiliates Larry by running his GT down in the most amazing '4 on the floor' Crown Victoria with racing slicks, full roll cage, 5 point harneses & god knows what else. The GT pulls away on the straight but the Crown Vic ownes the GT in the corners. Figure that one out. In my GT I chased Camilo around the track in the Bullitt Mustang pretending I was driving a Dodge Charger. Then I tossed Camilo the keys to my yellow GT requesting he drive it at 80% as I would like it to be reusable when he's done. I ride along. Clearly, Camilo has driven on the track a lot as his 80% nearly required a change of shorts for me.:ack I'm not sure what made the ride more exciting, Camilo's driving OR my named driver only insurance that excludes track driving. Camilo mounted a camera on the front of a GT and on the door of the Mustang. Great fun. Then.....we hustle across town where my crewchief has the Glasair III fueled and ready. I told both aspiring Top Guns that the best thing to eat before flying high G aerobatics was bananas. :banana It's the only food that tastes the same coming up as they do going down.:ack After a quick lesson on how to bail out Camilo dons his parachute and straps in. "Hey" he says, "How do I know if I should bail out??" That's easy I tell him, "If you look at me, and I'm not in the airplane, get out." And we're off. For 30 minutes I wring Camilo out, +7 to -2 G's, loops, rolls, spins, inverted flight, cuban 8's, and speeds touching 380 MPH in a run through the bottom of a canyon. We finish with a 350 MPH low approach past a line of three GT's parked by the runway. I repeat the whole process with DBK but about 90% of the way through......here come the bananas.:ack And on that cheery note, Viper and Iceman loaded the Mustang up and headed for Texas.

Now...Let's keep this thread going until they make it back to Detroit. If you hook up with Camilo and DBK during their journey, please post up and let us know what's happening. Happy New Year.

Chip

Sounds like you guys are having a blast:biggrin I wish I was with you! Hey Dave tell Camillo you have to get back before "Designers Night." If you don't make it back by then it will be Camillo's 3rd party in a row that I went to and he missed.:lol

Have a safe trip back.:cheers

Keith

P.S. Heather Catallo was last seen with a Texas Ranger looking for a 67 Stang with a taillight out for Feburary Sweeps. Ha Ha

Awesome-awesome-AWESOME!!

There's a Speed Channel show in here somewhere.

Have fun guys. I made a run from Lincoln, Nebraska back to Los Angeles last Spring in my plum crazy '70 Challenger R/T SE (one owner and pretty much all original except for tires and oil). Same deal. Saw it on ebay. Bought it. Flew out, and started driving back. Not a 100 percent problem-free trip by any means...but that's what made it so FUN!!!

Keep rockin' guys!

I'm serious. The story line each week is to find a cool car somewhere in the country, buy it, and then find as many cool adventures to have in it while maintaining the primary adventure -- getting the thing successfully home.

With the scattering of GT owners across the country it seems we'd always be relatively close to help (and adventure!).

I'd watch!

More Funday Pictures

Well, Chip said he would not post any more pictures, so I guess it is my turn.

Here is a picture of the infamous switch from the Turtle that was causing the lights to flash. Not only did the big C sign this one, we are such a mature group of guys we almost had him signing DBK’s recycled food bag from the airplane ride. Since it had to be held at arms length, that was a little tough so we passed on that one.

Anyway, thank God for photos. They can sure make you smile again and again.

And thanks Dave and Camilo for the personal delivery of the poster - you really did not need to go all the way to California and buy a car just to bring it to my son. He loves it, and what a story.

It was an absolute blast. Hope we do it again. :thumbsup

And remember, play dough can be a tool and saguaros are not trees :wink
