I think There is an upgrade to a smaller battery and tray. I can't check until late tonight.
SSM 50693 2017-2021 - Ford GT - Replacement Battery Design Change Requires A Different Battery Tray And LIN Connector - Built On Or Before 22-Sep-2021 |
Some 2017-2021 Ford GT vehicles built on or before 22-Sep-2021 may need to have a new battery installed for service. A new design service battery has been released and requires a different battery tray and a different local interconnect network (LIN) connector. This is due to the new battery being smaller and will not properly secure in the original battery tray. The LIN connector socket in the new battery is keyed differently and the original LIN connector will not plug in. The LIN connector will need to be de-pinned, so the new connector shell can be installed. When installing new battery part number: MG7Z-10655-A(USA/MEX), MG7Z-10655-B(CAN), MG7Z-10655-C(GCC) MG7Z-10655-D(EU), the following battery tray and LIN connector must be used: battery tray MG7Z-10732-A, LIN connector shell MG7Z-9A624-A. Lithium ion batteries are not cheap. Currently with all the the other parts needed its around $3,500.00. I dont know of any other aftermarket places to buy these parts. Hope that helps. Thanks Italianjoe
Also, where do you guys recommend buying these parts? The price I received from nearest dealer was absolutely crazy! $3K+
It just means if you need to replace your battery the older style is no longer available and will need to be updated to the new battery with updated tray and lin connector. Hope this helps.Explanation above “ new battery installed for services”. Does this mean if we have older larger battery, even if it is functioning fine , we will need to replace it for servicing? ie, dealer accessing the electronics?
I love them both.....the problem with the older GT's is parts are becoming obsolete and are going to be hard to find. I have been trying to stock some of the parts but finding it very challenging to obtain them at time.^^ This makes me glad I'm keeping my 2005 GT, where a battery is just a battery and anyone can replace it.
