Anyone else out there into boats?

Those are cool. I opted for bored and stroked 454 magnums...so at least I got "blue motors".

'Neighbors had a "Rockholt" back in the late 1950s that looked very similar to those. 'Powered by a Merc outboard.

Something about 200 MPH top fuel boats attracts beautiful girls! I latched onto this beauty at a drag boat race and committed marriage 35 years ago!

Is this a great country, or what!

I am sure that the F-14 had a lot to do with that...so Eddie is probably right again!

I had a boat (on the water) in Florida for 5 years. When I moved to NC (we are just a few hours apart-Richmond) I used it 2-3 times a year and sold it to make room for the GT. Now I am trying to return to my Florida roots (even if the soil is sandy).

I had a 27-foot Cobalt runabout for the puddles that pass for lakes around here (South Dakota), and it was a great, great boat. Sold it after a few years because we simply didn't use it enough. Too many hobbies and activities. If I ever get another one, it will probably be another Cobalt.

Havasu is Mecca! Your boat is cleaner AFTER you use it! (especially compared to the Gulf)

Not familiar with Rockholt. Ours were basically Craig Crafts that we built. Motor was an A stock Mercury mark15 built back in the ‘50’s. Of course they were completely rebuilt with a hodgepodge of parts from every production year. Heck guys even used a crank from a chainsaw motor that mercury built.

What class were you running? I ran SD, SE and mod 50 in OPC back in the 70’s and early 80’s.

I run big block Cobalts,
but as retirement looms I am curious. Recently we considered NC or FL for the warmth. NC has hills and FL is flat so maybe you can shed some light on the subject.
NC is cold in the winter. Fl is flat. Both are humid in the summers. Have a legal residence there but keep your GT in CA where the roads are amazing all year round.

Ed

PS We go boating all the time at the lake near our cabin. However we rent. They have patio boats, speed boats, wake boats, ski boats, SkiDoos, etc. At the end of the day we return them to be cleaned & refueled for our next outing!
