Anybody successfully repair broken HVAC AC blend door (stripped gears) or have a spare unit?

So we had a hell of a time figuring out the blend door issue and decided to hold off ripping the dash out due to the fact we have no clue if the A/C unit would even be repairable.
Has anyone actually repaired a broken unit?

Rich GTG replaced my HVAC unit in my ‘05 last August. I left him my old unit to use for spare parts. You might check with him to see what parts are salvageable.

You can buy the motor and gearbox unit from ford, not that expensive, there are 3 different ones if I remember correctly. Let me know if you need more info.

Is that a Autonation screen grab?

Are all 3 motors the same?

I think there are a few minor differences. Check the part numbers to the descriptions

Is It one of those jobs that if you need to replace one, you'd be better off doing all of them?

Doubt it. This seems to only happen to cars in the Southwest or warmer climates where the heaters don't get used much.
Thanks, Xcentric and ultrasportracing! I understand this is inaccessible unless the HVAC unit is removed. Once removed, is the HVAC unit servicable from the exterior, or does the unit need to be cracked open/disassembled?

Thank you! I was wondering if it was internal or external. Looks like there might be a challenge as far as to why the rivets are used vs screws or bolts.

Maybe check with the original vendor that designed the unit as well

We tried that route. Let’s just say they weren’t keen...
