This is the third successive TT install we have done at Cool Tech to one of our favorite GTs and the original Cool Tech "poster child" mod car. This is Kelvin (AlohaGT) and Shelley's beautiful Heritage car. It normally resides on the island of Oahu but Kelvin treats it to a 747 ride once a year or so to come visit us.... and we really like playing host.

On the interior, this car has more CF than the F-22!! On the functioanl side, we had previously fitted the car with the FreeFlyer Boost gauge. On this trip, we replaced the Volt meter with FreeFlyer's A/F gauge - just so Kelvin and Shelley can keep a watchful eye on the new twins!

Did I say twins? Here's a picture of them more or less naked.

Here's a close-up.

And here's a view after this turbo is plumbed for both water and oil lines (oil drain line not visible).

Next up is a picture of the hand-crafted headers which allow the exhaust gases to get back to the turbos in a very efficient manner. (In contrast to OEM cast iron manifold.)

And several hours later, here's a picture of the topside!

More to follow in next post....

Kendal you must be keeping busy, when do you find time for your day job?

It woud be an understatement to call you the largest installer of Heffner TT systems west of the Mississippi. :thumbsup

I am sure when your customers 1st fire up their new beast they are all ->

:huge:

Love those Sharpie written number on the turbine blades. I am sure they won't be there for long. :lol

This GT has one of the best all-time license plates too....

IMG_1262 (Medium).JPG

We completed the car last Friday evening and had the dyno scheduled for Saturday morning. Admiittedly , you get one or two looks when you drive around in a Heritage GT with all of the TT plumbing - and no clamshell!

As I've stated previously, I really do dislike driving customer cars - and we NEVER drive them for Whipple or Pulley upgrades. With the TT, we take it for an easy 3-4 mile drive to check driveability and to make sure there are no problems with lines, fittings, etc. All 3 of the TT shakedown runs have been completely uneventful.... just the way we like it!

OK, so at the dyno, what did this car do?

Here's a look at the 4 dyno runs used to arrive at the target boost level of 19psi.

DynoRuns.jpg

There's a couple of things that I would like to point out. First, one of the most amazing things is the first dyno pull with the boost controller all the way down and the car running only on wastegate springs. With only 10.7psi of PEAK boost, the car churns out a measily 666 RWHP. Really? With the OEM SC and OEM pulley, the car is about 12psi and ~500 RWHP (550 Crank HP). The turbos are amazingly efficient and I'd swear that you can feel the "free-er running" while driving the car.

The other point to make about the dyno chart is that we were VERY conservative with engine RPM. Ryan does the driving on the dyno and could have easily run the car up past 6500 rpm (redline is 7200 with Heffner's tune). Anyway, for those into internet HP wars, it's easy to see that this car is easily over 900 if we project up through 6500 rpm. Also with 105 octane on-board, running boost (safely) up to 21 psi.... mid 900's are easily attainable. (This is Jason's most conservative timing-wise tune.)

The results continue to blow me away!

As Kelvin can't wait for Virginia, we're expecting to see him Thursday night..... he says he wants to see the family.... yeah, right. We know that twins are always irresistable! No worries!

How many TT's will be in Virginia? Any other TT Heritages?

Kendall you post the most complete dyno graphs, pulling from about 2.3K up. All of the others I have seen don't show the bottom end. Thanks!

I love the torque curve, or should I say LINE from 4.5K onto redline. It is a flat as a pancake!

How do you handle the tail end of the exhaust? The X-pipe, shortened for bumper delete?

In the first pics you see the exhaust outlet side of the turbos. Attaching to that 4-bolt flange is a short 90-degree elbow. This elbow turns up and is in the EXACT location of the up-turned flange of the OEM catalytic converter. As such, with the TT, you can run any exhaust you like. OEM, Ford Racing, Accufab, Stillen, Heffner, etc. Our favorite is the Heffner and in the case of all 3 TT's we have done the owners either already had a Heffner or asked us to get one for them. For the bumper delete cars, the Heffner is hands-down our recommendation.

And that's not the half of it.... here's a pic of my finger as of a week ago with a newly inserted titanium pin.

Ouch!

Is that collateral damage from the TT installation?

I never got anything close to that working with my keyboard :)

Kendall -

Yowza!! I had a hangnail once but . . .

BTW, I still recall emailing you and Vince when our GTs were being built, keeping up on build and delivery dates, etc.

I just didn't know then that you are one of the GT ModMasters!

Congrats on all of your fine work!!!

I bent my finger backwards and tore up the stuff inside when I was loading my GT into the trailer for the Trek to Rally III in Las Vegas. 6 months of physical therapy to try to get it straightened (it wants to heal bent over 90 degrees) and then they gave up and I had surgery. They straightened it surgically. This was a year ago. Back to physical therapy after the surgery and 6 months later, it was bent over 90 degrees again - the way that it likes to heal. Two weeks ago, different doctor, different hospital (no more UCLA!!!!) and another operation. This time I got a pin in it. The plan is that the pin stays in for 6-8 weeks so that it CAN'T BEND. After which.... in a "little procedure" in the doctor's office involving a bullet, a shot of whisky and some needle nose pliars, they're gonna pull the pin out. I sweat bullets thinking about that one!!! Kitty Russell and Festus are gonna be there holding my other hand while Matt Dillon smiles at me! (That's the image in my head.) LOL

Kendall - I had 3 pins in my left wrist a couple of years ago to align all the little bones there. They come out easily - they grab the end with a pliers and pull them out, and they slide out easily.

Just bite down hard on the stick they put in your mouth :willy

:biggrin

Wow---Kendall that hurts me to think of all you've gone through since Rally III, Man you are a MAN. Don't bite through that 2X4. It would take a large group to hold me down. Make them give you some Michael Jackson JUICE. I had some during a procedure last week and I ask for some in a "doggie bag" to take home. Tomy PS The Doctor didn't think that was a bit funny.

Thanks for your thoughts.... but this silly nuisance finger keeps everything in perspective for me - and what a charmed life I live. A close friend recently had surgery for a tumor on his spine. My assistant at work is out from back surgery for 8 weeks. I have a silly finger problem that provides an excuse to sit down and watch my son as he wrenches through these TT installs!! It's not a problem - looks cool. NEVER hurt at all from surgery - this one or the last one - because I am a BIG WIMP and I'd scream like a girl if it did hurt!!

Congrats on another TT install. I can say with some certainty that when Aloha depress that gas pedal with authority for the first time he will be a happy man!! :thumbsup

Best of luck with the finger.........that does not sound very good.....but you understand the point :lol

Thank you all for the congrats! Needless to say, I'm excited to see the twins in a couple days. Ryan & Kendall gave birth to them over the weekend in the Cool Tech sanatorium and they were immediately brisked off to calibrate all vitals at the dyno dispensary. As life got in the way last year with us missing Rally IV, there was much to catch up on with the necessary bling & billet mods both within and outside the cockpit.

Kip, what new CF products have I missed?

Mrs. Aloha & I are looking forward to seeing you all at VIR in a couple weeks and meeting Terry & Monica, of whom Kendall has spoken highly.
