A Question for any GT Owner

I went to school and always worked during school. I always worked hard at what I was doing, because I believed in what I was doing. I am under 40, but I have dual undergraduate majors, a law degree, am an actively licensed attorney, Series 7 securities license, Real Estate Broker's license, advanced professional degrees, etc. But, education and testing just give you the background or entrance to play in the field. Ultimately it is only hard work and enthusiasm that are noticed and lead to success. I think education is the bare minimum in any field, the starting point. I am proud of my accomplishments in various industries, and could not have done it without education, but it is not an automatic ticket either. Work in a related field while you are studying, it really enhances the learning process and also keeps the student loans to a minimum.

My first car was a GTO. Many license suspensions later, I sold it. When I was 17, I was driving a used first generation VW GTI. I drove that same car through college and also through law school. I always loved cars and motorcycles, and always set goals. And try to not only save, but invest your money wisely. You don't have to be a financial expert, just better than most, which isn't difficult.

The GT was a bit of a stretch for me, and I am sure it is for others too, but I was confident that I had earned it, and have absolutely no regrets buying it.

If you know what you want, and make a plan, you will have no problem getting there. Good luck. You have your whole life ahead of you.

i do understand exactly what you guys are saying. big chances of wrecking, but at my age im still scared of going a faster than i legally should on alligator alley

maybe my dad is trying to teach me a lesson, a very very very very very very very expensive lesson none the less

I'm 17, and this scare of driving faster than the speed limit fades in about a month. The only thing that keeps me driving the spd limit is that if i get a ticket my parents are taking away my license. Im not afraid of cops, just my parents.

i have a whole life ahead of me, that is very true. but id rather be prepared now and not be a wreck when it comes time to choose a major. almost like im doing background research before i get my mind set on one thing.

!!!!!!!! Tell your Dad to get his head examined! Work hard for what you get. You'll appreciate it more. Learn the art of communication. There is no more important skill. With that, choose your profession and set meaningful goals for yourself every three to five years. Competition and competitive spirit is a good thing. Hopefully you play sports. This will set you up for the ups and downs of life. Be optimistic and respect others. Don't let the toys get in the way too early in your career. Most of us here have been around the track a time or two. We've earned our stripes. You have the chance to as well...good luck son!

Keep in mind though, that the work will be a BENEFIT to yourself. Don't study hard only because of the external reward (Ford GT), in fact, you shouldn't even need that. (Of course, don't turn it down either, but stay focused on the real gifts ahead of you. Not everyone is lucky enough to go to college).

Do it because you want to learn, and it's the right thing to do, for your own future.

Otherwise, you'll just have a really nice car, but not a lot of depth or background. As they say, nothing worthwhile comes easy...

College classes are easier then most of the advanced highschool classes. In my book that is not earning the car thats still having it handed to you. Im 17 and have a job Id take a FGT if some one handed it to me but I wouldnt have nearly the respect for it unless I payed for it on my own.

Im in the same boat as you are my parents will take my license away with one speeding ticket. I think I broke the speed limit the first day I had my licenses. Some of the speed limits are just stupid and do not make sense.

The Ford Gt is one of the most wrecked exotics on the road, and a high percentage of the cars are virtually never driven. The ones that are driven (and wrecked) are owned by drivers who have had licenses and experience with less powerful cars for at least several years. A Ford GT in the hands of "most" 16 year olds would be a death machine. The drivers would die. Lots of things about a GT can kill you...the power, the temptations, the peer pressure, or just the inexperience. That's hard for most 16 year olds to conceptualize because they feel indestructable and death is not something that enters their minds when driving. If your Dad loves you and can step away from his business long enough to think about the potential consequences of giving a 16 year old a death machine, a lot of agony, pain and tears will be avoided becuase you will not be getting the car, and that will be the best thing that ever happened to you in the first 16 years of what hopefully will be a long life with lots of time down the road for fast cars. All of this is said with love. Love for you and love for your life.

i'm a 14 year old pursuing my dream of owning a ford gt. my dad says when i turn 16 he'd buy me one but i dont think anymore will be available by then. i havent posted much on this site but i read alot and ive seen all of your amazing cars. i was just wondering what you guys do for a living to be able to afford all of these cars.

I think one of the most important things is to do what you know. You can be successful in any field. There is money to be made in every single field out there. If you want to be a burger slinger, be the best burger slinger and you will make money. If you have still have no idea what you want to do, figure out what you like to do. If you are lucky enough to get into a field that you actually enjoy, then you dont work a day in your life.:biggrin Well, maybe you do, but it will be more enjoyable.:thumbsup

'Difference is nite & day. The GT is just THAT ... a GT...and rides pretty firm, but not harsh.

The Bentley is a luxury car and the ride is much more smooth exactly as one would expect...but it's ride isn't "mushy" either! I'd say it rides "solid", but not FIRM... if that makes sense.

'Apples and oranges.

The GT WILL do the "side to side " thing without too much effort if you're not paying attention. It has no electronic "nannies" to watch over you in that department. But it IS a really easy car to drive - driven sanely.

perfect sense. does it come with stability and traction control or no? i try to base alot of things off my moms car. when you go fast, does it feel like your going fast?

That's what I ment by "nannies", sir. The GT has none. And, that's one of the reasons (one of many!:lol ) someone 16 shouldn't have one. There's nothing there to "bail you out" if you over commit the car.

The car is verrrrrrrrrry deceptive as far as how fast you THINK you're going. This is a bit of an over statement, but at 60mph the car feels like it's doing about 35 ... if that answers your question. You have to pay attention all the time.

1] Mcintosh or no Mcintosh
2] Aluminum wheels or no Aluminum
3] Are the seats uncomfortable
4] if you could afford a GTX1 why not get TT
5] is there a fair amount of traction in 1st gear when you punch it
