Sure. The lighter the "unsprung weight", the better.
Look at it this way. Each wheel/tire combo is a flywheel ...just like the one the clutch is attached to. The engine has to force them ALL into motion to get the car to move. The less they weigh, the less force it takes to get 'em all in motion. The less force it takes to get 'em all in motion, the less time it takes to get the car up to speed. In other words - the car's quicker. (And, everything else being equal, the car will be faster too because there's less parasitic HP loss keeping everything rotating.)

I admire any adolescent trying to better themselves... Admiring cars, girls, art & music... I was pretty deep at twelve (in my eyes) and knew a boatload about cars at that age, but this "kid" does not seem like a kid at all.
His father will buy him one (sweet if it's true), but he needs to know what it takes to achieve one, he becomes an adult? Doesn't he know what his father does and how hard he works???
He is well aware of traction control but wants to know the difference between a Bentley and a GT??? Come On... I'm sorry guys, I'm a newbie here and certainly don't want to hurt a soul, but I get an "off" feeling reading this post.
As far as the original question...
I worked real hard. If you are for real. Be passionate, seriously passionate about what you do...
Dedicate time and love towards any single profession you choose and you will achieve the goals you set for yourself.
If you are true, enjoy your new ride.

i know much more than what it seems, ive just never taken a ride in what so i dont know the feel. it could be a bumpy ride like a ford mustang or a smooth one like an exotic. id like to know these things so if i ever get the chance nothing is a suprise. what do you mean an off feeling?

Hey, I'm willing to accept at face value he's "true". If he "isn't", no big deal to me!
('Doesn't surprise me a kid THESE days knows all about trac. cont., etc. Shoot! These days there isn't a grade school kid who doesn't know as much about computers as Bill Gates either!)
Besides, I was 14 once myself... about the time Noah set sail as I recall...:shrug

Not only the material, the manner of construction. One is forged (optional), the stock ones are cast.

For most people, the choice is fairly clear. However, many of the cars were optioned a certain way, without the end users input.
I searched to find the car that was perfect for me. No Mac. No Painted Stripe. And the BBS Optional Forged Wheel Set. And painted red calipers (indifferent).
