2020 Corvette thoughts?

There is much to like about the SBC.
Pretty much everything. Power, torque, small/lightweight nature, and the sound. Though, to be fair, the LS/LT motors that debuted in '97 are no longer SBC's.

There are a couple of angles that aren't too bad but overall it's ugly. At the price we will see plenty of them on the road for years to come. It reminds me of this famous quote:

Other than evenly spaced exhaust ports, and a 90 deg V, what exactly do they have in common? The LS architecture is related closely to its LT5 predecessor in the 90-95 ZR-1, but shares little with the Ford.

In addition to exhaust port location, there is also bore spacing and intake port spacing and valve location.

“The LS is just a copy of the Windsor!” which elicited some colorful comments that caught the attention of moderators. It got us to thinking, though – is that statement true? Is the GM LS series V8 just a copy of the Ford Windsor or is it an original design that bears similarities due to common engineering design principles?

I wonder what the SBF would have become if it's "common engineering design principles" had been updated at least once since 1961? Well, we did get canted valves with the 335 series in the late 60's, so there is that.

Looks like a lot of of those common engineering principles coming out of Dearborn were pretty spot-on back in the late 50's, early 60's. :cool:

We should all be happy here that the new c8 is not a perfect $60k mid engine car.

Had the wife’s Tahoe in for service and asked the Corvette Specialist about the C8 today.

He said $20k then came back at $10k over. LOL.

I have never paid for anything OVER sticker let alone sticker price......except for my 17’ ACR Xtreme and.....the 2021/22 GT.

I think he was saying, the only cars he actually has paid MSRP for is viper and will be NGT.

This guy has some interesting videos about revising or updating styling of various cars (including the Aztek and even Crown Vic). https://www.youtube.com/user/LexOrABenz/videos

He did a quick revision of the rear of the C8, shrinking the taillights, enlarging the rear vents, eliminating the caved-in deck and spoiler, and moving the exhaust to center like the C7.

Not gorgeous but certainly better.

I did a crude version where I leveled the taillights, I think that helps, too.

Mid-engine choices under 100Gs are the Alfa 4c, Lotus Evora and Porsche 718. Glad this happened.

You are thinking of a C4 ZR-1. C6 ZR1's are still in the $50k+ range, unless maybe you find one with 100k on the clock.

I've had 10+ Corvettes from a pristine '85 to a C6Z06 race car to a 2019 ZR1, and aside from the rear styling, I'm all in on this one. I really like the interior layout, and it has a heads up display that is still noticeably absent from nearly all supercars. Can't wait to get my hands on an early one with the Z51 suspension with magnetic ride.

I stand corrected. I said $35,000. The actual number for a C6 ZR1 is $20,000-$25,000.

Great used car performance values. Terrible new car investments...
