    My GT caught fire!

final resolution Ford has stepped up and is repairing the rear bumper, in the interest of good will. :cheers They're surprised that it happened as the fuel should have been shut off with the ignition. They will check it out and see if the excess fuel was due to a rich condition while running...

    Intermitent Complete electrical Failure

Finally got back to the computer and need to report the Centerpunch wins the prize. Both battery terminal clamps were held on by gravity only. Tighten them up and no problems since. :banana The battery itself was also loose and not clamped down. Thanks for the help, Craig

    New GT purchase story...

I priced mine through endmunds.com, just playing around one day in Feb. It then asked if I wanted a quote from a local dealer, and I said yes. 30 minutes later I had an email quote for MSRP from a local dealer in San Diego. I thought it was an auto generated internet response, so didn't really...

Swift Engineering Wind Tunnel Tour for GT Owners

Great Idea, count me in. I would prefer a Saturday. Do you know how many cars/people that Swift can handle? If there is extra room I am certian several members from the San Diego Shelby club would like to attend as well. Craig

    My GT caught fire!

It may not have happened if I had pulled over and let the gas evaporate a while, but who knows how long? I did dicover the root cause, however. The remote fob was attached to the key with a very small ring (1/4 inch inside dia.) This ring can hold the fob in such a position that it acts as a...

    My GT caught fire!

RacerxGT - The Button Willow reporter must have been color blind, as that was me. PL510*Jeff - Good Idea about the foil. It would also eliminate exhaust taste. :biggrin The buns are on top of the super charger, I just didn't get a picture of them. :banana Craig

    My GT caught fire!

While downshifting into 2nd I apparently hit the key with my knee and turned to ignition off. I didn't realize it immediatly and gave the car some gas. When nothing happened I looked down to find the gages all off, and realized the problem, and did the natural thing, turned on the key. Wrong...

    HP upgrades, but which one?!

This being a "Modern" car, I would expect it to have a knock sensor and reduce the timing to aviod detontation. Does anyone know if this is true? I was happy to learn the the timing is reduced at 240 degrees coolant temp in order to prevent overheating. Craig

    Running Hot

No, I have orderd it, and it should help with engine temp, but I still think the cooling should be solid when the car is sold and not require modifications to function as intended. Craig

    back up camera

Back up sensors I have back up sensors on my '05 F-150 and they work great. They will sense a twig that is less than 1/4" dia. It tells me to stop when the truck gets within 8". It doesn't need a screen, it just beeps at you. I wonder if they can be added to to the GT, after all, it is a Ford...

    Running Hot

I took my car to the track last weekend and it ran hot. In normal traffic and freeway speeds it is fine, but when pushed in 65 degree weather it was running 220+. The check engine light came on but things were normal after the car cooled down a bit. I knew that 220 won't hurt it but 235-240...

    Competition Belt attach points

Ford had to do the normal crash testing that is required. Does anyone know if they did any roll over testing? I'm reminded of the old Volvo add that shows them dropping a car on it's roof from about 10 feet. Craig

    Competition Belt attach points

Looking behind the seats there are two large Torx screws located on the Firewall right behind the harness slots in the seats. Does anyone know if these are attachment points for a harness? I couldn't see anything else they could be for. Craig

    Trailer Tie downs

I ordered tire tie down straps from Summit, and they don't really fit the rear tires very well, and they have two hooks. Looking at the manual, it shows a harness that goes around the tire and the ratchet tiedown strap is attached to the center of the tire harness. Someone said that the Ford...
