I bought 3 of them; one for me, one for another GT buddy and one for the builders who do all of the work on my vehicles. They actually tested one on a Pontiac Grand Prix with a 305 V8 and a completely dead battery. I started my Viper with the car battery disconnected and only this in place!

It's about the size of my Android phone and weighs only 14 ounces. Good for quite a few starts before you need to charge it too! Also charges most devices like phones, computers, tablets etc....

See the video here - this is spectacular! I haven't tried it on the GT yet, and won't until I change my cluster - but I am pretty sure it will start it. If it starts my Viper, it should start the GT easily.

I wonder what would happen if you replace the regular battery and just ran one of these. It would save a lot of weight and space.

Unfortunately, saving weight in the front end won't be advantageous in the handling arena. According to my discussions with team members, they kept trying to move weight forward to get the car balanced. That's one of the reasons that the battery is up there. Of course, you can try it, and since most of us have removed the "sinker" (muffler) and traded it for a less weighty item, it may be just fine. I, for one, with the rear exit headers, like the idea of a bit more frontal weight in the car, which gives it a bit more understeer than the stock setup.

For those chasing straight line performance (1/2 mile, mile runs), shedding some pounds anywhere may be beneficial.
 
These aren't designed to run as a regular battery - they don't charge through the jumper port and they don't take rapid, high-current charges. That would probably cause them to explode. They are strictly for jump starts and charging your peripheral devices, nothing more. They're small enough and light enough to carry as an emergency start battery. They maintain a single charge for a very long time and don't require constant charging - which means I can charge it once a year, and just take one with me when I go out for a drive - and in the event that I breakdown from a bad battery, this is my backup! I don't need jumper cables and I don't need to call AAA -
 
If you want to shed pounds for real, me and Sinovac got our hands on several Braille lithium ion batteries. One that looked about GT size is less than 10 pounds. http://www.braillebattery.com/ Braille is based here in Sarasota.
 
I'm sure these are lithium polymer batteries- the same ones I use to fly this 40 pound model for 10 minutes on electric power.

Thanks. Very cool find. Just ordered one and may get one for my dad as he always has battery issues with his old mercedes.
 
You guys will love em! They really do work, and yes, they are lithium ion! They're not like Braille batteries; these are jump-start batteries only.
