And if much downforce is added, then at 200+ MPH, there would be a lot more load on the suspension and that'd have to be re-engineered also. Right? BTW what is the stock spring rates on the the GT?

if you put a wing on the back of a GT you are gonna need stiffer springs. just like a viper needs stiffer springs when you put a wing on it :thumbsup

Isn't it possible to angle a wing where it wouldn't apply downforce? It would be for cosmetic purposes only. I feel like that would be the main reason most of us would want a wing like Matech's.

That would greatly simplify the engineering and design work.

Gentlemen,

As somebody has spent literally hours over 200 mph, there is one very serious item to consider. Any changes to the downforce of the GT will put significantly larger forces on the tires. Higher loading of the tires, for any "reasonable" distance will likely result in tire failure. Having had a tire disintegrate at 204 MPH, I can tell you it is not fun and generally causes more than just tire damage.

When making any changes to the balance of a very nicely balanced vehicle, be very careful. There are always other things to consider.

You can't out smart the factory guys. All the testing/development and engineering can't be beat!!

Richard is spot on! Reread Kip Ewings post on this subject. Start changing the aero package (wicker-defuser-air dam) and be aware that your altering the balance of the car. It won't matter at highway speeds but at or close to wot could prove to be most unwise.

I agree with not fooling with the manufacturers engineering, look at how many GT's have been ruined by altering boost, tuning, tire size, tire manufacturer, wheel size, wheel manufacturer. Some have actually changed spark plug heat range and gap. I guess we're lucky Ford hasn't come and taken away our cars. Car enthusiasts have proven over the years they are incapable of modifying cars, just look at all the damage Shelby has done. Imagine putting such a big engine in such a little car, insanity.

Good point, I should remove all of my mods and sell them on ebay! :lol
