Will Avon Tires survive?

Cooper has owned Avon tires for quite a long time.

Could this be the beginning of the end?

Goodyear acquires Cooper in all-American tire deal

Two of the biggest remaining American tire companies are joining forces. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. is acquiring Cooper in a deal with an equity value of $2.8 billion that will combine the two century-old Ohio manufacturers.

I want to love Goodyear tires, the Name, the history, the Shelby relationship.

The problem is that every Goodyear tire I have owned (OEM on Performance Fords) has been a terrible experience. They just are not the tire company they used to be.

I hope they don't burn Avon to the ground in the process.

My Rangerover came with Goodyears. Both rears failed at around 25,000 miles when the radial plies broke and the tyres went out of round by roughly two inches! It made for, err, some vibrations. Changed them all for Pirellis. The only Goodyears I’ve ever bought were those cool retro billboards on my old GT350R clone.

Need to buy another set(Avon) for the cobra before things change. Think they are still imported from across the Atlantic. Hate to see that changed to the Pacific.

did someone just put tire stickers on them? they look good! I prefer the big letters like the ones found on the AC cobra
I ended up with some mickeys that I altered to get the effect..
