Coming home from a car show yesterday I was trying to out run some rain that was coming. The Turnpike entrace is a tight winding curve to the right. I was really moving as I entered the tight climb on to the turnpike at a relatively high albeit safe speed.. The car suddenly shuts off.

I went through the following steps so quickly that I was back on and up to speed in mere seconds. In fact it happened so fast I almost questioned that it happend at all.

I am in a tight turn ot the right. The car suddenly shuts off. I pull to the side. Set in neutral. re start car. Car starts fine... pull back out , up to speed again.

Was this some sort of oil starvation problem in the turn that caused the engine to quickly shut itself? I have heard about this in Vipers and I am wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar.

The car has never skipped a beat before or after and I got home ahead of the rain.

'Don't see how it could have been oil starvation. It has a dry sump system.:shrug

MK2, there are threads about the fuel system that when the "O ring" on the fuel filler tube gets nicked the fuel system wont hold pressure and shuts down. How much gas did you have in the GTX-1?

It was over 3 quarters of a tank and I was doing about 45-50 MPH when it shut off. I have only put gas in it twice...I dunno.. I have a feeling it was the tight curve that did it. Can you exasperate the fuel system issue with a tight turn?

The fuel system is pressurized... When you have a leak it causes the car to stall. The O Ring if nicked requires the filler tube to be replaced I haven't had the problem but GTJOEY has posted about it last year. Try using the Forum's search function "filler"

The fuel system is pressurized

but only downstream of the fuel pumps - just like any other (modern) car.

From the symptoms you describe, I would say that it was more likely an electrical issue. When the driving conditions are safe, I'd try to repeat it and see if you can observe some more info when you know it *might* happen.

I have accidentally hit the key with my right knee when moving from the gas to the brake or back. The key fob can hang in such a manner that it is very easy to turn the key off with your knee, if you are a taller driver. In the heat of the moment you may not have noticed it when you grabbed the key to restart.

MK2, GET THE CAR ON THE COMPUTER, RUN THE FULL CYCLE TEST, BEFORE YOU GET REALLY HURT. SOUNDS SPOT ON YOU HAVE THE BAD FUEL PIPE.GET YOUR HAND HELD PLUG UNDER THE DASH IF CODE 442 ECT COMES UP ITS A SMALL EVAP OR PIPE LEAK. DONT HAVE YOUR VIN BUT IF YOUR 05 ITS A GOOD SHOT, DONT SCREW WITH OTHER IDEAS JUST GET IT ON THE MACHINE. I HAD MY KID IN THE CAR ,CAME AROUND A TURN INTO AN INTERSECTION , IT CUT OUT AS THE LIGHT TURNED, AN 18 WHEELER WAS COMING FROM THE RIGHT SIDE. NOT PRETTY, IF I DIDNT POP THE CLUTCH, TURN THE KEY OFF , TURN IT BACK ON, PRESS THE CLUTCH , HIT THE RED BUTTON AND STEER CLEAR OF A TRUCK ALL IN 2 SECONDS.IT WOULDNT HAVE BEEN PRETTY, DONT "F" WITH IT JUST TEST IT NO MATTER WHAT . THANKS GTJOEY 1314:thumbsup :thumbsup

Last year I designed a sleeve that fits over the gas pump nozzle to prevent this from happening in the future. This it is not an official GTsaver part at this time. The repair shop (dealer) chipped the paint on my fender when this repair was being made so watch out! By the way, your car is awesome!
