Was it height off the ground? I'd heard it was too low - stand up next to it, it was below the knee caps instead of above.

Has anyone done a monster GT with lifts? I want to lower mine not raise it :)

I thought it had something to do with side air bags too...

If I recall it was head impact requirements to the windshield header when tested with an un-belted dummy.
Ford even proposed a seat-belt-interlock..((.remember the olden days when those were mandatory for a year or two before public outcry killed it ?)). The US Govt said 'NO' to the proposal. It would have meant an all new roof, header , seat, package design and test program to do otherwise..and we just could not afford it..
But Please, I may not have all the details correct and someone like Jamal or Ressler or FredGoodnow really needs to be the final input on this..

And yet look how some have survived big wrecks in relatively good shape;

So we have a crash test dummy to thank, at least in part, for the value of our cars today. Lets raise a toast to that un-belted dummy!

The first time I drove my GT I got an overwhelming feeling that the A pillar was going to punch a hole in my skull if I had a front end collision. I don't notice it now, but back then it felt way too close for comfort.

Ha, more damage done to heads by Gurney-ing on the top of the door.

End of build date was set due to the Gov. change in safety requirements that were coming up in Nov. as I remember from earlier threads. The GT would not pass these requirements .

Tomy got it right. We were told that at the factory during Rally I.
