I have the Borla and have been very pleased. No drone, looks nice, no LEO's.

So you replaced the stock muffler with the Ford Borla? I assume you still have the stock exhaust manifolds...yes...no?

If you cool, and want the best of all worlds,... you will run the SHADOWMAN version of the STAINLESS STEEL WORK headers with baby cats and get the special GUMBALL wrap... :)

I like the quality workmanship of the Stainless Works headers. I understand that is what Shadowman has them on his GT.

Hmmmm...dumb question but what is GUMBALL wrap? This Canadian ain't never heard of the term :confused

Jay,
Shadowman wrapped the headers on the matte black Gumball rally car.
He also made several modifications and was instrumental in working the kinks out of the
set. I had one of the first two sets, and did two upgrades, because of minor issues.
Call Bill for further details.
Cheers,
daniel

Hey Ralphie:

I have spoken with you about your system via email and was hoping that you could answer my additional questions.

Do you recommend your system for street use or is it meant more for track?

Sorry to take so long to get back to you - I'm having a terrible WiFi connection at this motel near Monterey - slower than a 15500 dialup.

I have driven the FGT over 20,000 miles, the last 17,500 with the M-9430-GTX Rear Exit Headers. Under 2,500 rpm (and we all know how fast that is in 6th), they are as smooth and docile as any standard exhaust system, and above 3,500 they are full race. I never tire of the pitch of their exhaust note if accelerating hard, yet an easy acceleration is pleasant also. I have never been stopped for any db violations, and most of my miles have been on 2 lane, old US highway system, through many small towns. On occasion, I've been followed by a law enforcement officer, whose attention I have gotton, but I'm not sure if it's due to the exhaust or the look of the car. At any rate. they usually just follow me (too closely) for a few blocks and then turn off.

On the track, which I'm sure is less than 100 miles thus far, I was told "the car now presents itself in the authority to which it belongs."

That is one Bad A$$ looking Ford GT.

I think the producers for the new series Knight Rider should have chose the Ford GT instead of the new Mustang. Just my 2 beans :wink

Here are some examples for illustration. (Quietest to loudest)

1. Stock manifolds, stock cats, add Ford Racing (aka Borla) Muffler
2. As above, but replace stock cats with "cat test pipes"
3. Stock manifolds, stock cats, add Heffner, Accufab, or Stillen Pipes
4. As above, but replace stock cats with "cat test pipes"

As for Ford Header-based solutions; (Note that with both of Ford's header systems, the factory cats are deleted as there is NO ROOM for them.)

1. Ford Long-tube headers, (no cats), + stock muffler
2. Ford Long-tube headers, (no cats), + Ford Racing (Borla) muffler
3. Ford Long-tube headers, (no cats), + Heffner, Accufab, or Stillen Pipes

4. Ford rear-exit headers, (no cats), Collector muffler part of system

One car has "3" from the top list (Heffner pipes) and the other has "1" from the second list.
Both sound great. The Heffner is louder at start up and low rpm's than the headers, no cats + stock muffler system, but at WOT and higher rpms, the header system sounds incredible (like a race car), and delivers a little more more HP.
If you are at a traffic light next to law enforcement, you can go through the gears at low rpms in the "1" header system without drawing as much noise attention as with "3" Heffner :cheers

No problems with the law yet when I open it up - but I rarely do that in public. As I posted once b4, I blew a guy away skitching on a skateboard off my rear spoiler - it was very comical! :wink

SPD, that's correct, Ford Borla, stock manifolds, no other mods to exhaust.

I've got FFRP Longtubes and FFRP Muffler combo. Well and truly loud as I want to take it on the street.
