Hey, that was a great weekend! I'm sorry I missed Hubbster & Tiny. I did see Triheart, xrayman396 & Ralphie plus my daughter saw GTEd. Someone said they saw Camilo but I hear that a lot. Edsel Ford II was there. It was my first time seeing a Pagani Huaya & Audi R8 GT. They had the McLaren Spider & 2013 SRT Viper there. It was 95 in the valley but only 65 in Monterey! It might have hit 75 at the track which is 10 miles away! Lots of good racing & over 200 Cobras (repros & originals) on Saturday. They put 175 of them on the track for the noon parade. One owner drove his original Cobra from Minnesota to Monterey & then raced! I hear he was going to drive it back to Minnesota! It was definitely a Ford lovers weekend. Monterey is so cool. A classic or exotic car at every intersection & parked everywhere!

Next year my wife & I might host a GT party at our Monterey rental house if there is any interest. It's not too early to plan as everything in Monterey will be booked up by the end of Sept 2012! Triheart had to stay in Santa Cruz because he waited! It will be August 12-18, 2013.

I heard that an original Daytona Coupe smashed the front end in turn 5 while we were there but I didn't witness it. I was told it was one of the Daytona's that raced at LeMans but that it's fixable. It's not a total.

GT40 P/1051 - Chris MacAllister (Indianapolis, IN) has owned it since around 1983, and drives it well in vintage races:

According to Ronnie Spain, this was originally a press car for Ford UK; orginally it had Borrani wire wheels. MacAllister refitted it with Halibrands. It has its original engine and transmission.

According to Spain, P/1049 was originally owned by the VP of Gulf Oil, and had it painted with the large orange stripe for Gulf advertising, which led to the Gulf sponsorship of JWA and the two Le Mans wins of P/1075, and other wins at BOAC 500, Spa, Watkins Glen, Sebring of course. P/1049 was given to JWA for the 1967 season and finished 6th at Daytona.
