Always lots of controversies over record-setting, but thought I'd publish something on Bohmer's IMRA record-holding GT in the Car Guy Chronicles: http://www.carguychronicles.com/2013/01/ford-gt-worlds-fastest-street-car.html#more

Well, that is incredible speed. And the good news it It's a Ford GT that holds the record!

"Street legal" is questionable. I would estimate than more than 25% of the FGT driven on the road (not EP) are not street legal using the letter of the law (fed, state and local) . If "Street Legal" means you have a valid state registration for the car that is different story.

Records are made to be broken and nobody knows that better than Johnny Bohmer, West Palm Beach, FL, who set the Guinness record as well as the IMRA (International Mile Racing Association) Street Legal Class record.

Usually a valid current registration means "street legal." However, some states are easy to register cars regardless of modifications and racing equipment. Once you get the registration you can keep on renewing it, regardless of modifications made. Then use it strictly for racing and occasional street use. States with annual inspections and emission testing, California, New York, New Jersey and others, make it much more difficult and in some situations, almost impossible. I live in Florida and Florida is one of the "easy" states!
