Whats Latest Battery Advice?

My Diehard is finally going bad after 12 years and what I've read is over 10 years old. Some folks suggest Optima and others hate them. Sears is gone so... what battery is the best now and please include model number.

The original Ford battery IS an Optima Group 25. Ford likes theirs alot and charges accordingly for the label. Just go to O'Reilleys and get one there, most likely in stock. If it matters some have had success in removing the "Ford GT" label from the old battery and transplanting it on the new one.

Ok thanks, I will just get the red top Optima Group 25, it's the only one that fits per their web site.

isn't the original Optima black?
Why spend money on the Ford battery? In 5 years you'll probably replace it. If at that time you're selling then maybe put the Ford one in.

The original was black. They don't make a black top. Buy from Ford and you get the same red top as Auto Zone, Costco, etc

With a little patience the label can be removed and used again. It helps if the label is warm, so you might want to use a hair dryer depending on conditions. I'm on Optima battery #3 and the original label.

That would be great. You don‘t get them here in Stores, so a model number would ease ordering a lot.
