2006 Four-Option GT, Blue with White Stripe, 2700 miles, three owners, proper dealer service, no mods, no stories, all original papers and accessories...in this market which was heated and has now tempered a bit...is $290k "reasonable"? Thanks for helping a newbie decide.

My personal opinion . I have one. Blue , white Stripes , 3option car. I am original owner.
Have had great fun for 10 years and never plan to sell.

Assuming all is correct as you state... 2 words.... BUY IT !

Blue is the best color, but I'm totally biased, lol. Sounds like a reasonable asking price. If you look at the recent auction prices and add the 10% buyers premium, it's right in line.

In the end, whether or not $290K is "reasonable" (AKA 'worth it') is totally in the eye of - and up TO - the buyer...you.

'Sounds like you've been doing your 'due diligence' and 'have a pretty good sense of where the GT market is right now. So, I'd say go with your gut (one way or the other) and forget what others may think.

After all, who knows where FGT values may be OR what one's own HEALTH might be year or two down the road? If (God forbid) there are health issues for you to deal with by then, how likely is it that what you paid for your GT will matter anyway?

Sounds reasonable...

However, have a qualified PPI done; OASIS Ford report of all previous work (inc;. half-shaf bolt recall) and double check VIN to make sure its as-ordered stripes, delete, etc.

Many variables can effect values from $500-50,000 from paying for half-shafts to replacing Ricardo Transaxle; simple novice test drive wont uncover all.

Seems like "a lot" but seems to be going rate for a car with that mileage.
At this moment in time.
Over the winter cars were a tad less.
Saw a few red and white cars with that mileage around 250-275.
Not sure what a blue premium would be to what particular buyer then or now if any.
Hope this helps.

Sounds reasonable if all the checks are OK...mine has 19,000 miles but looks and drives brand new. I think it's worth 230k in this market.

10-15k above current retail market, but if you keep it a year it will cover the inflated price and exceed it. JMO :)

My opinion is if you really plan on driving the car and enjoying it, why get a very low mile car with such a high premium?? If you will drive it only very limited, then the low mileage high premium makes sense.

3 owners with only 2700 miles better make sure recalls and maintenance were done. Sounds like it was a garage queen.

Like Joehand1 said, higher mileage cars like his that look pristine!!

I agree. I bought mine to drive. It had 13,000 miles on it three years ago and it now has 23,000. These cars are very reliable (Jeff has well over 100K miles on his ...) so why pay a premium for a garage queen that has to be serviced (belts and fluids) before you can drive it? And when you drive it, you lose a chunk of what you paid for. Remember, cars deteriorate if they just sit, leading to leaky seals, sludge, and more. If you want to drive it, buy a car that's known to be reliable, having been driven. A thorough PPI by an expert is a requirement.

'GOOD POINT! Just reread his post and now I'm wondering the same thing! :lol

But, the fact there's no contact info would point to/suggest the former...or, at any rate, it suggests he's not 'listing it' here...

I would assume there is some "negotiating room" in the asking price. Look what's for sale on Autotrader and their asking prices. If the car is "right"(PPI needed), and you could pick it up for a little less, it's not out of line.

Original post describes 'self' as 'newbie'. Therefore, unless he/she purchased a GT ~ a car they acknowledge that are not familiar with (read: speculator) ~ they would appear to be a buyer, not a seller.

Most of us wondered what was a fair price when we bought our GT either new or after the fact. I know in 2011 I paid what was market and now it turned out to be a great investment. When I purchased it was not for investment but something I always wanted and now could comfortably afford. 10-15K is not pocket change but pretty insignificant in the long run for the exact car you want and plan on keeping.

I do think when the new GT hits the market it will greatly increase the long-term desire and value of out cars.

A very close comparable to the car you are looking at is listed for sale on Autotrader in Scottsdale, AZ. It's a 2005 Blue/White stripe 3 option car, no Macintosh, Carfax included. A 2 owner car with 8,500 miles asking price of $279,900. It's now my favorite color for the FGT, absolutely gorgeous with the red brake calipers. Don't let $5,000 to $10,000 stand in the way of purchasing if it's what you want.

I'm a potential buyer guys. I have a Blue 65 Ford GT replica from CAV (a post-100 serial number car for those that know CAVs) that I enjoy the heck out of...for anyone on here from Atlanta perhaps you've seen it at a Caffeine and Exotics gathering. But if I add an 05-06, I will have to sell something (or two) out of my small collection....otherwise there will be hell to pay at home. As for the one for sale in Scottsdale, I saw it when it was being sold by a previous private owner. I went to see it as a side visit when I was at Barrett-Jackson for the auction of the Ron Pratte cars. I didn't know it was for sale again. I really like to drive all my cars, a lot, so the advice on getting a higher mileage on is something to consider. I'd like to think that prices will go up as the mileage goes up...and the $400k tag on the new one may actually help in that regard. We'll see.

PS: How the heck can I put a pic of my car on here as part of my profile? Mr. Moderator can you help?
