i was a porsche guy before getting my GT and i have always like the Carrera GT. You can get a solid low mileage car at auction for mid $300K's.

Most likely the new SSC Utimate Aero (whatever they call 'em these days). American made, ya know...and besides, as far as I know, their gauges work!

Edit: Tuatara (sp?)! I think that's what they call it!

if you get one, and be parking it as usual.... let me know when you are going to sell it please.:wink

Lots of cars I'd add: Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari F50 (no Enzo for me), McLaren F1, Lister, etc. particularly if $ were no object.

But I'm not giving up my GT. I ordered this one, it's a 1 of 1 car, I watched its build, have all docs, etc. Love it like no other car before or since.

Did I mention that I DROVE IT TO 210.1 MPH? If you don't own one, buy one. If you do own one, keep it. That, dear sirs, is my professional advice.

210.1. 210.1 210.1. Sometimes I wake up chanting these magic numbers.

I can't wait until we revise that number up next year Mike!! :biggrin :cheers

The GT stays in the family. Now the 08 427 LE Z 06 for a Zr1, any day now, the Viper convt. for a 360 or 430 spyder? Gallardo? wait for a used McLaren? Audi R8? something has to change before they are put away for winter.

For me? FXX, or Veyron, Both would be driven a couple times, and then sold to fund the multiple Ford GT's I wish I had.

If a "keeper" McLaren F1, 1+2 seating, is just too cool, and it also has 3 pedals, so I can heel toe into oblivian....

I'm surprised that I haven't read one of you guys wanting a Pagani Zonda (Cinque or Tricolore perhaps) or a Koenigsegg CCXR. Talk about sexy vs Playboy centerfold.

It's a shame that this is a thread about the car that would be epic win for you and in 3 pages there hasn't been a single picture. To solve this issue and give this thread something to fap about, here is some car porn. :biggrin

I am personally not a fan of all the carbon fiber and designs like this are not timeless. While the performance numbers may be impressive, and money aside, I would never purchase to own one for the same reason I would not own a GTR, Lexus LF (or what ever the hell they call it) and especially that french piece of crap the Veyron. I hardly see anyone carrying a Chanel Designer purse from the 60s but I do see many beautiful timeless antique watches on men's wrists all the time. For this reason alone the Enzo is timeless and so is our beloved GTs.

I think a more interesting question would be;

If you could trade your modern GT for an authentic circa 60's GT40, would you do it? Putting the $ issue aside, I would be surprised if many of us would give up the modern comforts.

W/o hesitation - NO. They're too small for people...ahummmm..."of a certain age" to get in and out of and are too claustrophobic once inside. If that were not the case, I'd have a Superformance GT40 MKI right now. 'Dead dadgum serious.

Besides what EP said, many of you guys would not fit in a GT40 even if you wanted to. If you did a Gurney Bubble, then yes you probably could however that is not everyone's cup of tea. Race cars are typically designed for short people because the smaller the driver, the less weight there is. The GT40 is definitely one of those race cars and it makes perfect sense; one of the quickest and easiest ways to shave weight off a race car is to have a driver that weighs less than 140 lbs.

I'm 6'2 and fit in my SPF. Had Olthoff move the pedal box forward a little and a couple other mods. They are much smaller that the GT inside for sure. Heading back to NC to pick it up and then up to VIR for a "photo shoot" with Dennis and some other special GT40s.

If money was no object there are several cars I would take ahead of the GT. Near the top would be one of these...

Wifey and I can "fit" in the GT40...it's the getting in and out that's the bear (especially for wifey)...followed closely by the claustrophobia and lack of anything resembling comfort. Thirty years ago - no problemo regardless!

Even though I excluded that from the original post my answer is "oh yeah, damn right". I would miss the hell out of how GT performs but I would spend a lot of time staring at the 40. I love history.
