What would you have bought.....

I fall into the "never would have bought an exotic" group. Never had any interest in spending over $150K on any car until I saw my first new GT in a Ford dealership. Tried to buy that one (white/blue stripe) but it was early on and they were at $185K, and they got it two weeks later. I'm still amazed that I actually bought one a year later.

Of course I was joking 2112. I am just one of the lucky ones who has never had a cavity. :biggrin I have never really had to test the theory that some dentists are better than others. I usually put a disclaimer at the bottom when I make such statements but I was waiting for soroush to take offense first as I believe he is a dentist as well. :wink :cheers

Let's see, open season on dentists, where do I start Special Ed?

I was already planning a Bentley Continental GT when I thought my GT would not come through. Judging from the people that have had them here, and already parted with them, I guess I really got lucky.

I thought so. Good for you on the "no experience" front.

Obviously there at least a few of us Dentists that don't fit the stereo type, god knows many do. :bored

All is well.

Just happy to finally get a GT of my own.

All of us need to be a little thicker-skinned as those who know each other may make a generalized comment regarding a group stereotype, but mainly ribbing our friends. We are all friends here, and like to have a good time - and we all are enjoying the luxury of owning the premier road car built in America for us by the Ford Motor Company, the FORD GT.

Let's not be offended by generalized comments, but take it as a jab by one of our best friends.

Tried a bunch and came back to the GT. Here is what I find truly interesting: Of all the cars on the market now, four years after the GT was introduced, there is still not a car out there that tempts me, even a little.

The only light of possibility on the horizon is the Ferrari 458 Italia. However, that's probably two years out, and I can guarantee you that no matter how good it is, it will join my GT in the garage, not replace it.

Frankly, I find it amazing that there are still GTs for sale out there. Who, in their right mind, would sell a GT? Yea, I know, I did it once back in 05, but I have now repented of the act of heresy...

You have definitely been an inspiration to us all...the reviews have been nothing short of fantastic!
At the time I was looking at the GT, I was also considering a Ferrari 360/430 and a Gallardo. I test drove a ZO6, but it just was not exotic enough for me.
I have had times when I have wondered whether I would like to replace the GT...but such times are very fleeting! Ha. And Mitty always sets me straight!:biggrin

I would have bought a nice '66-'68 mustang and built it like a rocket. I should probably go ahead and do that to keep me from blowing up my GT.

I grew up loving Ferraris. I still love the older cars but I find that with the newer models, After the initial excitement, they loose their appeal for me. I can't put my finger on it. They have never been been better performers but the styling is maybe....too out there?

I would still love a 1960 SWB 250 California or a 73' Daytona or any 512 Boxer.

I totally agree with 2112's Ferrari lust-list, but having owned a Ferrari some years ago, it was my first and last. Build quality = junk.
My dream car funnily enough was always a GT40 or Cobra. Got the GT, now searching for the Cobra.
Of course if I was in the land of dreams, a MacLaren F1 has to top the list, but $1MIL+ is beyond my budget and my wife's tolerance!

I'm a Ford guy and never considered owning a Lambo, F car or P car. In July 2006 I was signing papers to order a new (2007) Shelby GT 500 at a Ford dealer in Seattle....on the way out, I passed by a FORD GT in the show room and made the mistake of sitting in the thing. That got the gears turning in my head and decided I had to have one. Three months later I sold my BOSS 429 to make room for my new FGT in the garage.

The FGT was actually the very first exotic I have ever considered - had I not bought the FGT I would probably have bought another 4, 5, 6 ... additional classic cars from the sixties.

I hope you sold your Boss at the Height of the market. Do you know Dave Bliss or Brian McKay in Tacoma by chance? (at least I think that is how it is spelled)
