I would trade for Bony's carbon fiber GT plus some money to paint it RED.

Why?

Your FGT + another $30K ($50K tops) or so in mods and you could blow the doors off an S7 or whatever else you put up against it that costs gadzillions more!

"Co. of drag" would be the only limit ... and I betcha THAT could be addressed too! :wink

'Just my $.02.

which of these two cars do you think can lap the nurburgring the quickest?

Not so modern, but:

Mark Donohue's Sunoco Porsche 917/30

...OK, Mark Donohue's;
Ferrari 512M
McLaren M16
Lola T-70 MkIIIB

Not his Matador's or Javelin's

..any of his CanAm racer's
Lola T-70
McLaren M6B
Porsche 917 10
Porsche 917 30

.........hell, just about any of the old CanAm racers while I'm at it.

Any one of the cars in Ralph Lauren's collection, except his Jaguar XK-120 or his Mercedes Gullwing. My favorite is his '38 Alfa Tipo 8C 2900B MM Touring Spyder race car made for the '38 Mille Miglia where it finished second. It recently underwent a two year restoration by Paul Russel.

That car won its class at Pebble Beach last year and is absolutely spectacular from any angle. Check it out by Googleing the model # and Ralph Lauren.

There is NO MODERN car under $300k for which I would trade the FGT.

i wouldn't trade my GT for any car. with that said if i had alot of $$$ to burn i would buy the shelby GR-1 and park it next to my GT

+1. The GR-1 is a project that Shelby, Saleen or Genaddi should take over for Ford for a limited production run of 4,001 units with the Ford GT owners given the first right of refusal for the first 4,000 at msrp. Any of the GT owners who didn't want the car could sell it to the delivering Ford dealer for 50,000-100,000 over...so the dealers could experience first hand what it feels like to get jacked. :cheers

This topic kind of reminds me of the Saturday Night Live skit where "Da Bears" would be anyone, and even "Mike Didka" would take on an entire team and still win. I love my Ford GT, but I'm not going to say "nothing under $300 touches it" because I don't believe that. I think a Ferrari F430 Spider is another car I'd like to have, and I'd probably love it just as much as the Ford. If I were offered a straight trade, I think I'd be stupid not to take it. Hell, I'd trade it back for two Ford GT's :)

E. P., I was thinking more from the standpoint if I could not/did not own my FGT, what other car would I own.
I agree, I'm blessed to own a FGT and I have no desire, nor would I, trade her for anything else. :thumbsup

Since it took me exactly 39 years and two weeks to own my Ford
GT I wouldn't trade it for any other vehicle. My family has made 50 years in the Ford business Dec 1st, 2007. I'm truly Ford BLUE BLOODED. TGH PS MY LIFE IS GOOD.

There are a few cars for which I have considered trading my GT including the Heritage edition, but whenever I get close to the opportunity, I get an overwhelming case of potential Seller's remorse. But there are virtually no cars in the realm of reality for which I would trade the GTX1, unless I had another X1 in the garage. :cheers

Congrats on your Golden Anniversary! That is an incredible milestone.

I can't think of any contemporary supercar I would trade my Heritage for at double the price of entry (and more) of the FGT, especially if I then couldn't buy a replacement Heritage. The only F-car that comes to mind would be the Enzo along with some of the others mentioned including the MC12 and Veyron, but of course these are way above the ~$400k ceiling.

I sure would miss the FGT.

Rules of engagement.

If I could trade my yellow GT for another car that I could sell, I'd trade it for a Veyron, which I would immediately sell, so I could buy five GT's. :biggrin If I had to trade it for another car that I had to keep in lieu of the GT, there is nothing I would trade it for. There was a time when I would've happily traded it for an original 1960s GT40 Mark I, until I sat in one. Evidently, the 1966 Ford GT40 was not built for Chip Beck's 2007 butt. :bored The Ford Motor Company built the new GT 20% larger than the original because people who could afford one struggle with the primary curse of affluence. "It's tough to diet when you're rich". :bored

The FGT has been the ONE CAR that has consistently floated my boat since I first saw one in the sixties. The only thing that has come close in all that time is the Carrera GT. High revving, low inertia, open roof and, from the b-pillar on back, it's the teutonic batmobile. Yep, that would be a tough one.
But the Enzo? Veyron? Saleen? Nah.

None of them , they don't possess the history, and the class, and the styling of the Ford GT!

Price means nothing, owning a piece of history, 1966 - 2005-06 history, but still history, is priceless. Anyone who wants to sell their GT, PM me.

:cheers

Aloha GT, will be in Honolulu at the Halekulani, Feb 8-10, visiting professor at U of H, orthopaedic department. Lectures, hands on labs etc.

Atomic, my office is a 2" walk to the Halekulani and I eat there 2 or 3 times a week. I'd welcome getting together with you if you have the time.
