I need to get a floor jack to change wheels, but need a low profile jack. If someone has a link or web-site that would rock. Thanks

I think even Empty Pockets has one of these jacks he might part with but if I remember right either him or the jack has a missing screw :rofl

Harbor Freight has a low profile, aluminum, " Racing Jack" that goes for about $150. Retracted height is about 3 1/2 inches, and the low profile length is sufficient to get a foot or so under the car.

Along with the suggestion to use a hockey puck between jack and chassis, I think this is a good alternative.

I haven't seen this jack, but if it only reaches in a foot is a problem. The other jacks mentioned above reach over twice that distance under the car as the rear lift point is much further in than 1' from the edge of the car. I found lots of jacks that were low enough, but simply didn't reach far enough to get to the lift points easily.

It won't reach the front lifting pads.

These allow you to use a standard jack plus they have other uses.

I had a set of 'race ramps' made for the GT, it makes getting under it with a jack much easier.

A low, conventional reach aluminum jack can be used under the chassis bulkhead (with appropriate rubber padding), directly below the door button, I think, to raise one side of the car. Then, you can use the two inboard GT jacking points on that side for jack stands. Repeat procedure on the other side. That is the "GT Guys" method for raising the GT on four jack stands. I use hockey pucks drilled and countersunk for a centering bolt/nut for each jack stand. If you use a special, expensive, long reach jack to reach the GT jacking points, where do you then place the jack stands?

An old mustang scisors jask will lift the front. You can use most any floor jack from the rear under the center brace. Use some padding. Then you can use stands at the jack points for safety. I tried the Harbor Freight electric scisor jack and it raised the front. The fuse blew when I tried the back. Don't waste your time on that one. :thumbsup

Z06 trick for the front...stack-screw tierd length 2" X 6-8-10" @ 45' or so gives you enough breathing room for any floor jack. Hell Rhino ramps or equivalent @ Wall Mart works great for the ass end :thumbsup

another jack option

I found this at ASE a few months ago. Check out the DK13HLQ model from AC Hydraulic at the link below. I haven't bought one yet so I can't tell for sure but the quality appears very high and the design looks perfect for the long reach and would work without the need for ramps (3.1 in height). Not cheap at $631 but could be a fair value by the looks of it. If you use it along with their $230 cross beam you could lift one end evenly and then put stands under the beam to get the jack out.
