There was to be a local car club track day today, but cancelled because of the severe weather here in St Louis over the past week. I was happy because temps started at 48 this morning and only went up to 60. It will be rescheduled. As usual , no refunds. Shades of COTA.

Haha, that gold car next to me is a rare Aston Martin. The mechanic owner would probably be a touch sad to know that you called it a Volvo.

Then again, he's pretty funny. Apparently, he used to have a sticker on it that said "don't mind transmission parts falling off this car, it's an Aston Martin" but he said someone was really offended and removed it from his car.

Would this be in the time frame when Ford owned AM, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo?

I'm going to guess that it pre-dates that, but then again, I'm really not seeing direct Aston design influence in that door handle choice. So, it's obviously quite possible some parts sharing went on if it was in that era.

I'm sure there must be a few on this forum who are knowledgeable about that Aston and can enlighten us on what it is exactly and when and from what it was spawned.

I was asked to attend a car show at the Illinois 300 NASCAR race at World Wide Technology track this weekend. My car was to lead the other 99 invited cars on the track and onto the display area in the infield. An accident during the truck races changed the whole plan, but my Mark IV RED 2018 GT was the belle of the ball. There were quite a few Vettes , Porsches, a couple Lambos and McClarens, some AMGs and no Ferraris. You could easily tell where my car was by the constant ring of people around it. It was a very nice afternoon with excellent weather. I had a little fear about NASCAR fans in proximity to my car, but no problems.

A regional magazine catering to car enthusiasts did a writeup on my 2021 GT, so that was cool (even if they did get some facts slightly mixed up), and I took advantage of the one weekend per year when my flowering crabapple trees are in bloom and I have a nice backdrop to take some car photos. Also took the two MkIV GTs to a car show, and on the way home (for the SECOND time now), my new GT defeated my 4.0 Whippled 2006 GT on an interstate pull. The old one can more than hold its own, right up until you have to make a gear change.
