I recieved my notice in 1970, I went to Fort Wayne in Detroit to receive my physical. I arrived as directed at 5:30 am and spent the day running from one room to another until I found myself midday still only wearing my skivvies in line to see a heart specialist. I was examined more and told that I would not be drafted due to a heart murmur.
I knew I had Rheumatic fever as a child, but was never told I had a heart murmur. I got a 1-Y temporary classification and then received a 4-F which said I was not wanted due to physical defects!
I was prepared to go, but never accepted.

I have many friends that never came home from Vietnam. I also had 2 that came home physically but not mentally and miss them both to this day. Many of my fellow classmates and buddies served in Nam. They were My true heroes. Many years of guilt for not having served while they did
Thanks to all of you that served.
