Warped side splitter

I noticed that my passenger side splitter was warped. When I put in on my lift to investigate, I noticed there are holes without fasteners in the splitter (and corresponding holes in the painted rocker cover but none apparently in the frame) at each location where it has warped (I guess a more accurate description would be a droop). I will get a new one under warranty but I am wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue? Also, does anyone know what these hole are for? At first I thought they were for push button fasteners but cannot discern any hole in the frame where they would attach.

The side splitters themselves are fairly flexible and it would seem this would be a common problem (although my driver's side splitter is fine).

Shadowman, DBK, any thoughts?

The less than perfectly flat side splitters; meaning the panels below the rockers. This is seen on a regualar basis and in most cases is associated with the less that perfect fit of the rocker panels and or over tightening the securing Torx bolts. These do not take much pressure but rather are only IMO a step above snug.

Now as for the emply holes; this is normal. There are several holes on both sides that are not used nor do they have a receiving threaded piece.

I suggest that you consider this another component of your gal's character; each being a little different and certainly less than perfect except in the eyes of her owner.

Mine is "warped" on the drivers side...passenger is pretty good. As Shadowman suggests I just live with it. The car sits so low and since the piece is flat black is really isn't that noticable. I do wonder, however, if is knocks a mile or two off top end...:willy

Being a person that sees and inspect several GTs on a weekly basis, I can tell you that all the cars are missing screws in about every OTHER hole. I agree with SHADOW that there are no threads for screws to go into and there are not SUPPOSED to be screws there from the factory. Alot of times you can losen all the screw and adjust the side splitter to give it a more EVEN appearance.

If anyone feels this is a problem to them, you might try some fender welting. This was a material used on most pre WWII cars. It went between the fender and body to help stop squeaks and create about a 1/4" bead at the seem, almost like a molding. The installation should be simple and totally reversible. Just Google fender welting if you aren't familiar with the product.

I'm thinking that a piece of flat stock aluminum or something similar, if placed under the plastic side splitter and fastened using the stock bolts might support the splitter in areas where is has drooped.
