So I am seeing that the Viper ACR is setting all kinds of track records ... I am wondering if the New Ford GT will have the opportunity to go after track records or will it not be making the rounds like the ACR. It sure would be nice seeing it in action in street form and see what it can do with a professional driver.. GO USA.. Its a win win...:thumbsup

Given that retail production units will be rather limited, it will be interesting to see what allocation gets into the media pool.

I imagine there will be quite a few press cars out there when the time comes. Ford won't let this opportunity pass without kicking the ass out of all the competitors.

Many have tried, but that ACR is tough to beat...

Maybe Dr Frank will loan out his NGT to the magazines for testing?

I'm a fan of the Viper and the GT, I dont see the GT being a faster track car than the ACR, but if it is, that's great. Either way both cars are badass. I doubt we'll see many new GT's on the track though, if ever. I rarely even see Viper's these days other than my own.

Being the GT is designed first and foremost to race in a class that has limits to HP and the ACR doesn't a single hero lap shoot out the ACR may in fact have a better time. Bring both to a track and turn them lose for 4, 6, 12 and then 24hr races my money would be on the GT.

I doubt we will see the NFGT being used to set track records all over, especially with how rare and expensive they will be. I sure wish they would because I feel it is going to be an incredible track car. The ACR is certainly a very capable "almost race ready" car for the street, but my money would be on the NFGT. I think this NFGT is going to be very different than what we have been seeing in other exotic supercars. This GT is being engineered and designed as a race car first. It is going to be light, really light. It will have better power to weight than the Viper and also the technology of a modern race car. Just the DCT will be good for a couple seconds a lap on most courses, and there is still much technology Ford hasn't even disclosed yet. I think the NFGT will not only be faster, but much easier to drive at the limit than the ACR. I think this car is going to surprise a lot of people with its performance.
Just my .02 :cheers

I'll be taking mine to the track.. I probably won't set any records but I will have the time of my life !! :biggrin

This I would not doubt!

A good share of us have taken our current Ford GT's to the track enjoy them. Now Ford has designed and built this race car and a streetcar version with this innovative design , the latest technology and track focused intent. Am I going to take it to the track? Hell ya !!

Perfectly stating my sentiments Brian.

Blake, Monica and I are in with you and Brian! :thumbsup We intend to spend a lot of time driving this one as well as spending time at and on track with ours, (thinking positive we are getting one... :biggrin). There are a bunch of events we like, and at SM we look forward to showcasing our GT and showing up a few of those other member exotics, and some of those snakey cars too...but especially those Chuvitorleaveits that overpopulate the place. :rofl :usa

Ill help you with the records! either in yours or mine!

Sounds good. I'll tag team a car with you any time my friend !! Hoosiers might not be required. If a Hoosier is a 10 on the grip scale the Pilot Sport Cups are about a 9.5. They're very good tires. Happy to see Ford going that route. The track tests should be really good on those tires

Have we heard which Michelin tires the race cars will run on?
