The seller is asking a too low price for this car.

When I mean too low it's one of those too good to be true deals.

I run a carfax on the car and it checks perfectly with no issues...

Any other things I should know?

He wants to transact through ebay so my funds will not be released until I inspected the car... what's the catch?

I am very skeptical...

Thanks for your help.

Car Fax Reports

I read in the paper where Car Fax settled a class action suit because they don't get accident reports from some states. So you don't really know if the car has not been in an accident or not.

This guy ALSO must write the FGT ads in the Dupont Registry that say, "212 DELIVERY miles".

Your correct, I know of some folks that have wrecked their GT's, ordered the parts and doing the repairs themselves. These repairs will not show up on any reports. Always check the car or pay someone who knows what they are doing. We call this a PPI - pre purchase inspection, pretty standard in the Ferrari world.

I deal a lot in older Porsches 911 and the PPI is standard procedure. Usually the buyer and seller agree on a price given a good PPI. The PPI is performed by a shop indicated by the buyer. If there are any issues that come up during the PPI that were not disussed during the price negotiations then the deal is off or the price can be adjusted to reflect the new information.

I just bought (yesterday) a 993. It was supposed to be in mint condition. The PPI showed a faulty master cylinder ($700). We agreed witht he seller to deduct $500 from the agreed price.

I would not buy a car without a PPI. The Ford GT is still a relatively new car but I still would require the seller to take the car to a competent shop for a check.

Anyway ebay just reported that the email I received had not been sent by them.

But by the second email I received from this bogus seller I found out that this particular GT had a lot of interesting options like leather seats, ABS, driver and passenger airbags, power windows and power locks.... Very very rare combination....

Many moons ago, I bought a little Lexus to turn into a SQ (sound quality) vehicle. Got a fair price, and had it shipped to me from TX. Well, when the truck arrived, they started the motor, and all I heard was TICK, TICK, TICK. The motor and tranny was shot!!!! I immediately called the dealer, and he said "It ran perfectly when I put it on the truck", so I responded with a F*** you and die, and fixed everything and gave the car to a family member.

Now, on the flip side, I have sold my 996TT, my Mini cooper S, and my Z06, all on Ebay, without any problems.:biggrin
