With production images like this, I can see why the guy in south Texas thought it would float.

If they bump the power up, is it still considered a "production car"?

Yeah but did they do it in a standing mile? :lol

I don't think it was a standing mile with that banked track.

The SSC Ultimate Aero held the previous record of 257 (rnd fig) which it ACHIEVED ON A PUBLIC HIGHWAY in eastern Washington...not some smooth-as-glass surface designed for 200+ mph runs. And since then, there have been a few tweeks made to IT as well.

I'm wondering just how long it'll be now (in light of this Veyron run) B4 SSC actually runs their latest offering on a PROPER surface to challenge the Bug car.

Sorry, but I dont think an SSC even comes close to a veyron at any level. The SSC is too "KIT CARish" for me to be considered a Production car. Anybody can go put a super high HP motor in a car and obtain speeds in the mid 200's, build 10 or 15 of them and call it a production car, but its the all around car in my opinion and the Veyron is lightyears ahead of the SSC. Plus, when you build 15 or so cars, I dont exactly call that a "PRODUCTION CAR"

Now, dont take the above statement as that I dont LIKE the SSC, because that is not true, I just dont think compares to the Veyron. Again, IMHO.....

Kind of like taking a modded Z06 corvette and comparing it to a Ferrari Enzo.

I believe Bugatti plans to build 300 Veyrons. And haven't they made only 50 or so to date (not sure on that number)? You consider 300 units would qualify it as a "production car", then? 'A figure of authenticity arrived at how, exactly - aside from personal opinion?

The 'Aero meets all fed requirements...has a/c, blah, blah, blah - so, WHY would the number of cars SSC actually produces have anything at all to do with whether it can be considered a "production" car or not? As I stated, it MEETS the fed's LEGAL requirements for that classification...it IS sold to the public (all be it in limited numbers)...and SSC DOES "produce" it. 'Would therefore appear to be a "production" car 'far as my own darn self is concerned. And, since the 'Aero held the official speed record for the "production car" category, 'twould appear that fact alone makes it "officially" a "production car" as well! :lol

No disrespect intended to anyone here that owns one, but I think the Veyron is a hideous looking car. For that money, I would have a warehouse full of other better looking cars including the SSC. I'm not taking sides, just expressing my taste in cars and the Veyron, does nothing for me, nor do french wines for that matter. A 20 year old Bridgette Bardot on the other hand, Yum Yum...

IMO the Veyron is the top of the production food chain

This is a gal with all creature comforts and can be driven all day as basic transportation or exercised at an extreme level by do nothing more than activating the system with the security key and dare I say topping her off with pump grade fuel.

BTW I too heard that a number greater than 200 have been crerated and delivered.

All the best

I think it was Shelby that posted the maint $$$ costs. Which included wheels and tires to keep the warranty.
So Bill, on this one I would disagree. My accountant was serious but one more headache in his garage to keep up was not his idea of fun.

Me I like the interior and the engineering feat that it is. (that's my positive)

Ray made us all realize our GT's can open a can of woopass on anything that walks this (rolls) this planet!!!!!!!!!!!!

I heard from a friend (workout trainer) that he talked to a man in Florida who has 2 veyrons, with 2000hp each. One in the states, and one in europe. I will let you guys know when I get more details. Apparently hes a very private individual who doesnt want his cars on youtube, etc...

It was not me that mentioned maintenance, but honestly if you are a player at the MILLION DOLLAR LEVEL, the maintenance will not kill you. Alot of it is exagerated and mis-quoted. The tires are very expensive as they are a size specially made only for the Veyron. A set of 4 is around $13,000.

Sorry Bill, but I have to disagree here. One may have a perfect wife in every sense, but if she is ugly, one wouldn't want to wake up next to her. So don't make me post pictures of ugly women next...:lol
