Really love that Ford did such a nice job with the LATCH anchors. Fond memories of giving both my boys (at different times, obviously) rides in the passenger seat, and the easily actuated AIR BAG shut off was also very convenient and appreciated.

What's better than a Ford GT? Well, a Ford GT with a car seat and precious cargo of course, with laughter and smiles all around. Thanks for sharing the great photos!

2-15-2006 Purchased and ordered my GT.

A few years and a few miles - it still brings nods, smiles, OK's and High 5's. Every time I drive it.

Missed the show registration for Fabulous Fords, but made it out to a local Cops, Cars and Coffee show today. My son and I brought out the Black Beauty and took some photos. I only had my cell phone.

And some photos my son took. I guess the files are too large, so you have to click to view.

Today in my GT, sweet Charlotte and I did what few GT owners have ever done before... we used the child seat restraint system! It’s not just for looks and bragging rights, folks... it works!!

The looks and laughs I got from people at red lights were priceless. The smile and wave of an infant was the last thing they were expecting when we pulled along side!

you are a good daddy! I've been doing the same but now my daughter is 4 and wants me to drive her to school in the GT. She now claims the GT to be her car so I'm glad for the NFGT allocation! lol

When I finally located a new black stripeless Ford GT, macintosh delete, car back in 2006, I called my best friend and told him.

At the time, I was driving my dream car, a highly modified and cherished e39 M5, that was in perfect condition, and also served as a jack of all trades, as basic transportation, track car, road trip car, and car show car.

Knowing that I'd probably never part with it, but that I needed to use the funds if I had any chance of getting a Ford GT, right away, he said, just tell me how much you want for your '01 M5, that he'd buy it from me, that I could drive it anytime I want, and that I should get the GT.

Today, we went to a local car show together, and it was fun to have the two cars side by side. Nice to have the two cars together, but even nicer to spend some time with my good friend.

Seems like an eternity ago, but I'll always remember the gesture.

DG1 - love those Gurney Eagle Coil Covers! Very cool and a nice tribute! Today at the cars and coffee, we talked about Dan Gurney, and how he was everywhere in the community, always with a smile, and just enjoying being the ultimate car and motorcycle guy!

Thanks for the nod, SYCO!
I undertook that project a year ago last November, just prior to Dan’s passing. I contacted Kathy Weida and Justin Gurney just to make sure that they were ok with it and they were great!
Justin sent me some photos of the valve covers on one of their engines and we went from there! Apparently Dan himself got a kick out of it!
I was crushed to learn of Dan’s passing shortly thereafter- it’s so hard to lose your lifelong heroes. Dan’s 1966 outing at Sebring summarized his character for me- GT40 #2 dies on the last lap and Dan pushes it across the finish line to be.....disqualified???!!! Nope, sorry- Dan Gurney won in my books- hence, DG1;)
Very nice to hear that people are still talking about Dan- I suspect that they will be for a long time to come! Wish I’d been at that cars and coffee to participate in the discussion!
All the best!

Wow DG1, that's such an amazing project. Very cool. I love that Dan loved it too!

My son's high school friend made this short video clip on Saturday at the get together after it was winding down.

You can see that my valve covers need cleaning! I will do that as my very next project - engine bay cleaning.

Oh, so kind of a sad note about an aspect of modern high school bullying. Note that currently the video has approximately one like and one dislike. This kid is obviously making his first video, and I think it's a great first attempt. So, I asked my son, "That's weird that the video already has one dislike, one like. What do you think that's about?" And my son said that someone is trolling, and following posts and disliking them. I said, oh that's really not cool. Is that today's level of bullying, that one might have anonymous people just trying to show their dislike for your friend or his art? And my son said, yeah, if that's bad, imagine if you have 100 people doing that to you all the time."

If you are okay with the video, I think it'd be a nice gesture for a few of us to leave a like or a comment on the vid. Thanks in advance!

[steps off soapbox now...]

And some photos from the nicely attended show yesterday. Was nice to see another black stripe less Ford GT on the other end of the collection.

Got in some track time in the hot, humid Midwest summer last weekend with Big Inch and his new GT.

Got to ride for a session with Blake on the track, sorry I didn't get any pics of the Hoosier Express.

Amazing what the new car can do, but still very impressive how the 05/06 is on the track!
