There's a local guy that has one like this, CSX2052. He leaves it at the Shelby American Colleciton in the winter and takes it home in the summer and drives it. It'll be at the museum party in a few weeks. Everyone walks by it be doesn't really "get it" for what this little car is. Google it - the first find is my pictures.

I attended a show in Sarasota several years ago and saw a beautiful British Racing Green/tan interior slabside. The car was so perfect I thought it was a replica at first. It was a one owner car that had just undergone an extensive restoration. The car was so beautiful it would make your knees weak. I spoke to the owner briefly and he talked about driving the car all through college. Great story. I understand he recently sold it for big bucks. Good for him. I like to see those dedicated caretakers rewarded.

That's a great story and car. It was owned since new by one of the original Sarasota Cafe Racers, Joe Angeleri, who won a huge number of awards and trophies over the years. He just replaced the Cobra with one built by ERA. It's a stunning tribute to what I believe is the last FIA Cobra which was built without side exhausts and trunk extension. Power is a built 302 small-block. He drove his real one all the time and certainly will drive this one. taken at our last lunch.

That's MONSTER$$ for a 260/289 Cobra. I know some cars with racing provenance have eclipsed $1MM, but I wonder what the high sale price was for a slab side steet car before this one?

Marty,

I need to come your way. I would like to meet your group. Did you get my email regarding the tires?

Yes, thanks very much. Will go for the Bridgestones when I come back from vacation, in mid-Sept. Would love to have you join us for lunch. We have about five GTs in the area. Go to our website, www.SarasotaCafeRacers.com and drop me a note with your email address. Lunches are every two weeks on Wednesdays, except for some off-site events. Gary has been enjoying himself with our guys.
