I would be remiss after that quote of yours if I did not share my fathers expression when I was a kid and wished for things....
"Piss in one hand and wish in the other and see which one fills up first"

Strange how these wierd things stick with us. I may have to schedule time with Eshrink.....hmmmm

Don :confused

Don:

The true expression was (Yiddish) "Wish in one hand and pish in the other." Pish is said with inflection.

The more applicable expression in this scenario, however, would have been some variant on "one does not defecate where one ingests" IMNSHO (not so humble).

Will be interested in hearing (pun intentional) how you like your Kinetics exhaust once baffles are installed. Hope you have a chance to compare it to the Tubi.

Interesting theory there, Beach-GT, except for one thing. The air inlets for the engine are located OUTSIDE of the car, not inside the engine compartment.

A couple of notes....The air goes throught the air filter box which gets heated by the muffler adjacent to it and the Air temp sensor detunes the engine in response to the warmer air. Only 20% of the ducted air is directed into the air filter which creates a starvation problem if you change your pulley. This will be another topic of debate I'm sure. The Kinetics exhaust has a drone caused by the choice of location for the crossover connection. There is much more to designing a good exhaust system than just welding up some pipe. Straight pipe will generally not drone but will be loud. A crossover will reduce the loudness (cheaply) except at the resonance point that it creates in the system. The key is to move it to an acceptable point.
Baffling will reduce sound at the expense of back pressure. The Stock system is probably the BEST QUIET system and the Borla one unit header system is probably the BEST PERFORMANCE system. Everything in between is going to be a compromise. :wink

And you know this, how? No disrespect, but the stock exhaust system and the Borla system produce virtually the same horsepower and torque on the dyno. Same car, same day, same dyno, back to back runs (this was the silver GT that was used in the Motor Trend article). No increase whatsoever.

I can't comment on anyone elses GT exhaust system since we have never tested any, other than the OEM system, the Borla system and the Accufab system, and I'm not going to get into exhaust theory, since we have been building custom headers for Mustangs for over 20 years. But, when someone knows what they are doing, the dyno doesn't lie.

Well...there you have it then. They are all the same. Just pick your $ and your sound. :biggrin

Hey Beach,

When will the exhaust with removable muffler inserts be ready? Sounds like it may be the best compromise between performance and eliminating highway drone.

Will the pipe also be tubular and cut down on engine bay heat? Any weight savings?

The plan is ...it will be lighter, cooler (temp and looking) free flowing and have sound options for your taste ie: removable and changeable muffler inserts. I plan to test it this week end if all goes well. For the folks using some of the tube type exhausts it seems that they could be wrapped easily with insulating header tape and further improve the cooling effect in the engine compartment. I'm going to try the wrap to see myself. I bought a roll from JC Whittney. I'm also looking in to ceramic coat costs. I insulated my turbo pipes on my mustang to reduce the heat near my hood with ceramic tape I bought from McMaster Carr in the 80's and it made a huge difference.

Hmmm.... I advise you to look again sir!!! :rofl

You are correct. They appear to be oval and not round. Just the wrong direction for my car. Sorry.
