trransaxle fill plug size?

What size socket fits the transaxle FILL plug? I know the drain plug is a 32 mm, but don't know the size of the fill plug.

Thanks!

I'm afraid this thread did not answer my question - it gives one size (1 1/4) without specifying which plug it applies to, but then states there are three different sizes for the fill and two drain plugs .... :confused

I guess that wasn't very helpful. I don't recall the size of the fill plug, but it is smaller than the transmission filter plug (driver side). I believe the transmission filter plug is the 1 1/4" (32mm) dimension. Remember there is another drain plug on the passenger side of the sump. Sorry for the mediocre answer.

Most sockets don't fit well unless they have very thin walls.

I use an open end wrench on the filter plug for that reason. It seems there is a slight difference in tolerance between transaxles which permit or prevent the use of a socket on this plug.

I had to too, but I prefer a box wrench or socket so that I have 6 points of engagement rather than only 2.

I just used an old set of vice grips when I changed the fluid on GT35065's car. :lol

Here is what I use, However I don't fill through the "Filler Hole"
I put my oil in through the odometer sensor opening.

Thanks Lorenzo. I was mad that I didn't write the sizes in my manual.

Don't forget an extra 1.5 quarts with the cooler if you have one.

I fixed it while you were typing. Look for the poll.

If you are buying your oil from your local Ford dealer be sure to check the label to make sure it is the XT-75W90-QGT ( specific ) for the Ford GT !!
Every time I ask for it They give me the bottle that looks almost exactly the same marked 75W90 for some other application.
