There are 2 interesting articles I've come across in the past year or so about track insurance. One is in Sports Car Market Magazine - my favorite, and one in the NY Times. The complete articles are available on line respectively. I post these summaries of companies mentioned for your info as some may be considering these for the upcoming Rally, or other events. I have not used any of these companies, and am certainly interested if anyone has feedback on them. It seems that most companies might insure our cars, up to a certain limit, though all but one do not include liability.

After going to motorsportreg.com's website, it seems like that may be a good way to go as they provide insurance for lots of clubs and events. However, it might require DBK or someone to register the Rally's track events to qualify.

I was at summit point today. A porche spun in front of us, hit the tire wall, rolled, and hit the wall again. Me and a 'vette sqeezed through side by side in what little room there was in turn 9 at close to 100. I'm still not sure how we made it through without hitting anything. The porsche was totalled. Driver is fine. All safety equipment worked as it should. Rollbar saved his life.

Thought I'd repost this as our Rally 5 is coming up with several track days scheduled. I for one am always a bit concerned about the financial risks and impact of a minor fender bender, let alone something more significant.

Has anyone used any of these companies and/or had any experience with them?

I agree and feel it is safer on the track than on the road but I have not been able to find any insurance that covers anything more than the car for track events. That excludes liability for injuries to others and even property damage to others. Many life insurance policies even have exclusion language for track events although the definitions are often not clear. I will keep looking.

Just called Lockton affinity - turns out our organization, or in this case, the GT Forum needs to be a recognized club by them. The track at VIR is already recognized by their system. It's not difficult to do, as they only need the event director to answer about 10 questions about the event. Might be a nice thing to have.

Same was true with WSIB - need to have the group recognized, like the Porsche or Mercedes Club of America is. Seems like a nice long term thing to consider with more events planned.

Our incident rate is nil!
Obviously due to the fact that we have such fine instructors and drivers

Rocket, that's not entirely true. You obviously didn't see anyone cleaning the excrement from their cars after riding with you and those Ford drivers (not to be named).
