Should someone attempt to search this thread for advise, I wanted to add this:

When reinstalling the instrument panel switch bracket, be careful not to over tighten the six mounting nuts. The studs are only glued on and snap off very easily...I know.

Old thread, but it's time to replace the fog light switch (no illumination). I can feel all six retainers on the bottom of the lower dash panel, but I can't seem to budge any of them. I assume they slide towards the front of the car (towards the perimeter of the panel). Am I just not trying hard enough? I also assume there are no upper retainers, just the six I can feel across the bottom. Stormcat? Shadowman? Thanks.

I remember when I removed the lower kick panel the switches were in view from below. That panel comes off pretty easily but you have to be careful not to crease it especially in the area under the radio. To remove you have to pull out the a/c vents and then pry them off from the back side. They are held in be spring clips.

If the switches can be replaced that way for sure, I don't know.

I perused this thread again since it came up. Nice fun making about StormCat and by Bony. Ralphie is expert at replacing these I think.

Howard . Are you talking about the push clips that hold the leather lower dash to the metal knee panel ? They push straight in and out. A plastic type interior pry tool can help separate the male and female parts. The male part of the clips are glued to the fiberglass substrate of the leather panel and can be pulled of the base if you are not careful. If this happens you can epoxy back in place. The clips do have a strong grip. .

There is also a small retaining plate that holds the switches in place that must be removed. When you remove the retaining plate the switches will pop out.. If I recall there are one or two of the fasteners that are towards the end that are really hard to get at. I hope this helps, I haven't been in there for 5 years !!

I would add before reinstalling the lower panel put a little grease on the spring clips, the next time they will come out easier.
