I'd go for a Hurracan ordered exactly the way you like it. As for some of the others…..sometimes the idea of owning one is more interesting than actually owning and driving one. I'd also seriously consider a 599…they are great cars and seem like a bargain.
A friend has a 599 for sale here in Sarasota. I believe in the $180k range at the moment. Motivated seller.

So....after reviewing comments and some soul searching

-No on Vette, Pantera, & 308; you cant go home again. Not going to enjoy classics purgatory, busted Sats/Suns nursing them at "experts"
-GT...$300K all in with sales tax, transport, service, etc; somehow takes bloom off GT honeymoon to reality
-Hurracan: high maintenance; wait for -$100K to be knocked off in 3-5yrs

$300K can let you enjoy a significant amount of wine, women & song v. puttering around in a hangar tending such a flock.

Oddly, thinking more about a M-B SLS AMG

With them trending towards $100K, transmission software update via SLS GT Final, and bank-vault AMG quality; its a pretty hard package to resist.

The Gullwing doors, M-B, and AMG engine are just iconic.

Slightly different doors but may want to check out any of the M-B SLR McLaren. I have no idea of current prices/values but always a quality product. I have three sisters I pulled from our overseas shop in our west coast garages.

'09 Stirling Moss, 722S, and '11 McLaren Edition(Final). The 722S a bit heavier but I still enjoy it from time to time. I still use one of my F1's when someone wants to experience 200+ for the first time on the flats. I have 11 year old twin girls and they were reading about a 16 year old girl that wants to pass 200 on the salt flats. I hope they did not inherit the same DNA as mine. lol

Either way good luck with your choice. What do you think about the Final Edition of SLS AMG GT?:thumbsup

BTW, here's the 599. I have to believe this would be a steal.

I think the SLS would be a good call. While an SLR may not cost much more, I do not believe the maintenance would be comparable.

Yellow looks much better on a FGT than a 599.

That's a pretty unique and nice looking 599….Is your friend the original owner?

I spent most of my money on hookers and blow. I wasted the rest of it.

Yeah....who coined that phrase?? Escapes me now.

2nd owner, I believe. He had the flying buttresses painted silver, so it would look like some rare 599.

Agree. Looks like an old man's car. Which this one is.

Its actually pretty hard to find an exotic that's holding its value, is iconic and has rock solid reliability.

-Current value > MSRP
-Engineering prowess
-Durability
-Non-Dated looks
-Iconic

BMW Z8 for sure. Too bad we missed that opportunity. The Z8 ship has sailed.

I'm going to go ahead and say it: that 599 looks horrible in yellow.

Possibly the elusive 599 Silver Buttress Edition.

Just had a friend buy a Z8 from an enthusiast that had 40K on it for 110K. It is flawless with the hard top. Silver with red black interior. I just drove it through back country farm roads a week ago and it is a great car. He did his research and the car is flawless except for some miles on it. I think he made a good move. It is a blast to drive, a very fast yet civilized car with great handling. Iconic styling IMO.

Seems it is unclear who originally used it.... http://quoteinvestigator.com/2010/05/19/gambling-women/
